If you are not comfirtable with Command line should wait until a GUI tool – which is more straightforward, and has less chance of novice users accidentally bricking their touch. However, dev team also say they’re working on an un-tethered Jailbreak, which will hopefully be both much easier to use, and enjoy some level of support. Remember it’s a beta release not a final release. They are providing it with expert-only instructions, and a strict warning that they won’t be providing ANY support for it. No wonder if any russian hacker will release a gui based on dev team work before the official dev team release. Official Announcement from dev team as follows.

———————————————————————————————————————————————-
Today at exactly 2 minutes past Beta O’Clock we are releasing a beta version of redsn0w. The release hopes to simplify the jailbreaking of your iPod touch 2G.

redsn0w is currently in beta as it relies on the user running it from the command line, but this new redsn0w functionality is being added into our GUI applications.

If you are not fully confident with using the command line, then hold off for those simpler tools that will be released sometime soon.
———————————————————————————————————————————————–

The new iPod shuffle is small and easier to use than previous one. The controls are now located on the earbud cord. It’s so easy, you can use it with your eyes closed. Well new iPod shuffle has VoiceOver feature, With the press of a button, VoiceOver tells you what song is playing and who’s performing it. It tells you the names of your playlists, too. 4GB storage means 1000 songs approximately. iPod shuffle features a gorgeous new aluminum design with a built-in stainless steel clip that makes it ultra-wearable.

iPod shuffle is based on Apple’s incredibly popular shuffle feature, which randomly selects songs from your music library. And now, when you can’t remember the name of a song or an artist playing, with the press of a button iPod shuffle tells you the name of the song and artist. iPod shuffle can even tell you status information, such as battery life. With the ability to hold up to 1,000 songs and the VoiceOver feature, you can now easily switch between multiple playlists on your iPod shuffle. iPod shuffle can speak 14 languages including English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

You can even combine it with the nor-only variations to make this easy to install from iTunes without touching your main fs. “ 24kpwn LLB patch aka an untethered jailbreak for the 2G iPod Touch can be downloaded http://iphwn.org/24kpwn.zip.

It’s bitter sweet that this has to come out in this manner, because it *really* would have been nice to save for the next iPhone. On the other hand, nobody knows the struggle to jb like iPod Touch 2G owners So it’s good for them.
Now it’s a waiting game to see if Apple can react fast enough.

The patch needs to be applied directly to the LLB without decrypting it first, using “bspatch” or equivalent. The resulting img3 should have this sha1:
SHA1(LLB.n72ap.RELEASE.img3)= 82734c7cdf945ba5421b83962aab3ab91e4fb23a
