MuscleNerd, iPhone Dev Team member, has managed to extract all data from the bootrom of iPhone 4S baseband. Musclenerd posted a proof image, with raw data of iPhone 4S baseband on his twitter handle. This means iPhone 4S jailbreak and unlock could be very close, now they can work with the baseband with complete freedom to find an exploit.

Now we all wonder what happened to the baseband of the iPhone 4 during all this time? If you remember the first baseband of the iPhone 4, the 1.59.00 was unlocked with Ultrasn0w, but after that there was nothing, it seemed that Apple had closed all the doors, but the game starts again, we will keep you informed.

Musclenerd just released ultrasn0w, latest version of ultrasn0w is compatible with iOS 4.3.1 Recall that iPhone Dev Team already released untethered solution for iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak last Sunday, but  ultrasn0w wasn’t  not compatible with latest version of iOS.

This new version of ultrasn0w will unlock baseband 4.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and 06.15.00 for iPhon3 3GS and baseband 01.59.00 for iPhone 4.

Instructions to install ultrasn0w using cydia

Step One : Press to launch Cydia Installer from your Springboard.

Step Two : Press to select the Manage tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three : Press to select the large Sources button

Step Four : Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen.

Step Five  : Press the Add button at the top left of the screen.

Step Six : Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com as the source url and press the Add Source button.

Note:ultrasn0w is spelled with a zero, not the letter “o”.

Step Seven : Once the source has been added press the large Return to Cydia button.

Step Eight : Press the Done button at the top right of the screen.

Step Nine : Press to select http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ from the list of user entered sources.

Step Ten : Press to select ultrasn0w from the list of packages.

Step Eleven : Press the Install button at the top right of the screen.

Step Twelve : Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.

Step Thirteen : After installation completes successfully press the reboot.

Step Fourteen : Now press the Home button then power off and power on the iPhone. You do this by holding down the power button for 3 seconds then moving the power slider that appears to the right. Press the power button again to turn on the phone.

Step Fifteen : You should now be able to insert the SIM of your choice!

iPhone Dev team member, Musclenerd just hinted that they are working on iPhone baseband downgrade hack. Musclenerd replied to one of his follower regarding their priorities toward peoples stuck on baseband  5.14.02, 5.15.04 and 5.16.00 Apparently iPhone dev team found a solution, that will allow users to downgrade their iPhone’s baseband back to 05.12.01, 05.13.04 from baseband 06.15.00

If you remember six months ago we told you that iPhone Dev Team is Working on Baseband Downgrade Hack solution that will allow users to install an unlockable baseband and be able to unlock. We’ll keep you updated as the story develop, so stay tuned with us.

MuscleNerd released  an official statement regarding iPhone unlock. iPhone Dev team postponed the release of ultrasn0w unlock until Apple releases iOS 4.3 or iOS 4.2.5  Sherif Hashim found an exploitable baseband crash that could bring an unlock for basebands 05.14.02 and 02.10.04 back in November. Very little has been heard since then.

As you know Apple dropped iOS 4.0.1 for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 in response to wrong signal calculation. This is a minor update and no major changes in baseband update and jailbreak protection, at least for iPhone 3G. MuscleNerd released a new version of ultrasn0w 0.92 with carrier logo fix.  Last ultrasn0w has a issue with the logo of the carrier that did not appear regularly after the unlock. Earlier today Musclenerd asked beta tester to test ultrasn0w 0.92 on his personal repo. Now, however, the DevTeam has released the new update in the official repositories. FYI that ultrasn0w may be used only to unlock iPhone 3G/3GS with baseband 4.26.08, and all those who have the new version 05.11.07 be used blacksn0w of GeoHot.

Recently i got some comments from my readers that they have no WiFi connection on there home, and someone says his iPhone is not able to detect WiFi signals (maybe hardware problem) and some complaints about crashing Cydia problem so they are not able to unlock their iPhone 3G on OS 3.0. In order to activate those phone i mailed them two files extracted from my Ultrasn0wed iPhone and directed them where to put those file with DiskAid. The procedure was little bit long and not easy for peoples, who encountered first time with iPhone file system. Recently i came across a useful one click utility which unlocks your phone in a single click. The method is same what we used from Cydia, DiskAid. Let me explain how Ultrasn0w works, when we installs Ultrasn0w from Cydia it copies two files first ultrasn0w in /usr/bin, and second is a plist file in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/. iPhone is still “locked”, firmware is just tricked into believing it’s not. . An example would be when phone startsup and runs code “if(phoneIsLocked == false) doStartphone();” – a patch would simply change “false” to “true”, causing it to run doStatphone() even when it’s locked. If firmware is upgraded/restored, this patch will of course be removed and were back to start again. This type is in the industry considered as a semi-unlock, and only accepted as a last resort if no other way is found (usually, it’s just a temporary solution)

In this trick we used Offline Patch for Windows Users only. 90% of our readers successfully unlocked their iPhones with that patch but some of them reported that batch file isn’t opening on their machine, patch is not working etc. etc. So here is our second and full proof solution, you can try this if the offline patch isn’t working for you

Unlock iPhone OS 3.0 Without WiFi Manually

Guide to unlock iPhone 3G OS 3.0 With Ultrasn0w Without WiFi & Cydia :

• Download Ulrasn0w Offline Patch Download Here (UltraSn0w 0.6) or Download Here (UltraSn0w 0.8) and Extract the Downloaded file.
• Connect your iPhone 3G with OS 3.0 Jailbreaked to computer, If you haven’t Jailbreaked yet follow our guide to Jailbreak iPhone 3G OS 3.0 With RedSn0w on Windows Mac.
• Make sure your phone is connected to computer and run the Unlock3G_3.0 batch file and follow the onscreen instructions. (T-mobile users turn off 3G in iPhone setting before applying Ultrasn0w)
• Now reboot your phone once and if your EDGE or 3G is not working yet then reset network settings once in setting option.

As promised Musclenerd showcased the next version of QuickPwn and UltraSn0w. Yes UltraSn0w replaced the YellowSn0w for iPhone 2G, 3G with OS 3.0 DevTeam will release UltraSn0w for iPhone 3G on iPhone OS 3.0 firmware with baseband 04.26.08 on Friday. For unlocking your iPhone 3G with UltraSn0w it doesn’t matter which baseband or bootloader your firmware is running on. Now iPhone 3G is unlocked up to the latest Baseband. Now you needn’t to follow those lengthy procedures to downgrade baseband but limited to Bootloader 5.08 Downgrade iPhone 3G Baseband from 4.26 to 2.28 & Downgrade Baseband 02.30.03 to 02.28.00.

UltraSn0w works same as YellowSn0w. About UltraSn0w application is a small daemon that is launched on boot.  It injects the payload at boot and also whenever there is a baseband reset.  You won’t notice anything about it other than that your third-party sim now works.  It’s a small program and unobtrusive. The UltraSn0w unlock will be released on Friday 19th along with iPhone 3G S and will be applied in the same manner as the previous yellowsn0w unlock. The procedure will work on the 4.26.08 baseband version so all those who accidentally updated to the latest baseband will be able to regain their unlock. And anyone at 3.0 FW or below will be able to use it.
