Full multi-tasking support in iPhone OS 4.0 : Rumor

According to an article by AppleInsider, the firmware 4.0 for iPhone could bring a long list of missing features and Multitasking is also in the list. Further details of implementation has not been published. The iPhone OS has prevented that from the App Store related applications running in the background – it can currently handle only via jailbreak.

According to AI source, it seems that Apple has decided not to implement multitasking to all applications. Please remember that the native applications such as Safari, Mail, iPod, and Nike + are already supported to run in the background.

In recent years, Apple always hold an event in March, and showcase the first look on the upcoming iPhone OS version. Apple this summer will publish the new version of its mobile operating system for iPhone OS 4.0 .and with this new update would improve highly demanded by users and developers the ability to use third party applications multitasking.

iFixit, who invented a new fashion, creating wallpapers from photographs of the internal components of Apple products. Today iFixit blog posted two nice wallpapers [check here] for your iPhone as a download. Both wallpapers are cropped very carefully that each piece is aligned almost perfectly with the actual position it within the iPhone. So when you apply iFixit wallpaper, it gives you feeling that the machine is open, without protecting the LCD screen. iFixit posted “ Both flavors are rendered in the iPhone’s 320 x 480 resolution and look exactly as if you had X-ray vision and could peer through the iPhone’s LCD.Oh, and iPhone 2G/3G owners — we won’t tell anyone that the wallpaper’s from a 3GS. You have our blessing to use it.

Download wallpaper from here and here and then sync with your iPhone photos with iTunes. Now select the photo as a wallpaper.

Traces Found for Video Chat in Next Generation iPhone

9to5Mac Anonymous tipster submitted traces of video chat in upcoming generation of iPhone. He found the traces while exploring TelephonyUI.framework in latest iPhone SDK. Check the screenshots below and you’ll find pictures and some text strings that suggests the implementation of video calls in the next iPhone 4G!

As you can see in the above posted image, there are two small icons for “Accept Video” and “Decline or End Video” and in the following image check the highlighted string within the file “TelephonyUI” where we can read the very term “Video Chat”

Apple Store Manager Calls Cops on iPod Jailbreaker

Sir you have an illegal (jailbroken) iPod let me call the cops, Yes we aren’t joking HotRod1964 shared his real life experience with Sebastian Page from iPhone Download blog. According to HotRod he was browsing a local Apple Store for killing his time and during the general chat with the store employee he showed his jailbroken iPod touch. Employee called the store manager about the issue and Mr. manager called the real cops. Following is the full story posted by HotRod1964 in his tweet here.

I Went to local APP STORE about 2 weeks ago. For nothing other then I was in the area and had an hour to kill. Figured I’d browse around. Obviously, they were very polite and a salesperson approached me to see if I needed some help (store was not busy at all). Told him "Nope, just browisng". Being that they were not busy he starts asking me what type of comp I have, what kind of phone and etc…When I told him I dont have an iphone he asked why and if I was interested in 1. I explained why and told him I am not interested due to apples unwillingness to allow owners to ‘do their own thing’ and that I have no intention of paying for an iphone if apple is going to handcuff me he kept going on and on about what I was missing out on.

I then told him I was more then happy with my new droid and I was more then happy with my Itouch. he said "Oh, so you do have an iTouch then?" I said yep and pulled it out. Flipped the case open and hit the home button and he saw my lockscreen, which is the Grateful Dead with some other ‘goodies’ on there. he sort of stepped back and his eyes popped wide. he asked if he could look at it..I would NOT hand it to him, but what the hell, it is my device so screw em. I slid the lockscreen to access the device and very obviously (i’m sure he knew as soon as he saw my lockscreen) at first look he knew it was JB’d. he didnt say anything other then going sort of quiet and saying "wow". He walked away, i was then approached by the manager.

He said " I was informed you have an ILLEGAL iTouch" I replied "I do have an iTouch but that it was not ILLEGAL". he then asked if it was ‘modified’ I said ( and happily I may add) "Yep, it IS MODIFIED You should get one yourself as you dont know what you are missing out on" he then said "Sir, that is an ILLEGAL device" I said "Your NUTS. It is my device I paid for. I own it and can do anything I damn well please with it" he then said "Sir, the device you have IS illegal I must now ask you to turn over the ILLEGAL device at once". I responded and said "Dude, your nuts, it is not illegal and if you think I am giving it to you, I have a bridge in the sahara desert I’d like to sell you" he then said "sir, if you refuse to turn over your ILLEGAL device I must have a copy of your drivers license" I said " Dude, you really are nuts..your not taking my itouch and you have no right to ask for my DL"..he then said I had to either give him my itouch or my DL or he will contact security…LOL..Oh boy..the MALL POLICE!!!…..I told him "go right ahead..I’ll make myself comfy and wait"…..

Instead of the MALL POLICE. an actual Police Officer came..They spoke to the manager..then came to me. I told them I am breaking no laws and there is no way in hell anybody is taking my itouch unless the COURTS order me to turn it over. I said here is my info take me to court Otherwise, get off my friggin back or I will sue apple and file complaints against you as just because you have a badge does NOT give you the right to detain me or ask me to give you my personal possessions unless you can tell me WHAT LAW I AM BREAKING. They walked away talked to the manager came back and said "sorry for the inconvenience. You have a pleasant day" and I left. Anyway, just thought I’d share this since I see others posting about geting banned from their stores and etc, and I want to make sure everybody knows.

DO NOT LET THEM CON YOU INTO GIVING UP YOUR DEVICE…some are intimidated by the authorities so may give up their device out of ‘fear’….DONT DO IT…..Tell them to explain what law you are breaking and to either arrest you or get F*cked…do not let them CON you into giving up YOUR PERSONAL iphone/itouch!!!!!

Sherif Hashim Found Baseband 05.12.01 Unlock Exploit

Sheriff Hashim, an iPhone hacker found a new exploit for the baseband 05.12.01 Sheriff handed the exploit over to very well deserved hands, yes we are talking about iPhone Dev Team. Musclenerd also confirmed that the crash is promising and they are working on porting this crash in to an unlock. As usual no ETA and no promises from Dev side. Sheriff now re-exploring 5.12.01 baseband for another crash.

Musclenerd stated that “Sheriff Hashim found a very promising crash in the new baseband. He’s put in a lot of work looking for crashes over this past year, and he’s still looking for more! We’ve started to look at his crash but it’s a long road between any given crash and a fully working unlock, and we couldn’t put an ETA on it even if we wanted to. It’s not even guaranteed that an working unlock will come from this particular crash — it’s just too early to tell.”

Note : it’s a good news for those who accidentally updated their iPhones, but it may take time for final release. May be Dev team save this crash for future use. Opera Browser for iPhone Officially Confirmed

Opera browser for iPhone is now officially confirmed check the Opera press release here. Opera Software is all set to reveal Opera Mini for iPhone in an exclusive press and partner preview during the 2010 Mobile World Congress (MWC). Opera developed its mini-browser for iPhone, with missing support for Flash Player! It will be interesting to see the reaction of Apple because Cupertino Giant would never adopt alternative browsers, especially if using the flash and not based on WebKit.

According to unrevealed Opera lab tests Opera Mini is up to 6 times faster on the iPhone than Safari. Press release says “Opera Mini is renowned for its compression technology, which results in significantly faster Web-page loading and reduces data surcharges. With favorite desktop features in its arsenal, such as tabs, Speed Dial and the password manager, Opera Mini is designed with usability in mind.”

Opera Mini for iPhone is not publicly available and we are highly doubtful on it’s existence in App Store in near future. Mr. von Tetzchner Co-founder, Opera Software already said that Opera’s engineers have developed a version of Opera Mini that can run on an Apple iPhone, but Apple won’t let the company release it because it competes with Apple’s own Safari browser.

Downgrade iPhone 3G 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 With Fuzzyband

Good news for those who upgraded their iPhone 3G to OS 3.1.3 and lost their baseband. As you know Apple introduced a new baseband 05.12.01 with iPhone OS 3.1.3 update, and latest baseband 05.12.01 is un-hackable at the moment because Ultrasn0w/Blacksn0w doesn’t support. Bigboss released Fyzzyband 3.1.3-1 a while ago in Cydia. Fuzzyband Downgrader is a safer iPhone 3G Baseband Downgrader as this one detects your baseband and bootloader version and does the right thing first.

In other words Fuzzyband Downgrader detects your bootloader and baseband and downgrade it with a simple click if your bootloader is vulnerable to Fuzzyband . Fuzzyband Downgrader available in Cydia, just refresh your sources and search for Fuzzyband and install the application

Please Note :

Downgrading works from any version greater than 4.26.08. It will put your baseband back at version 4.26.08 which is hackable by ultrasn0w.
Downgrading only works on iPhone 3G with 05.08 (5.8) Bootloader from the factory. This is a very limited number of phones that were released in the first few weeks of the 3G production cycle.
If you do not know your bootloader then you can run Fuzzyband and it will report the version number for you.
iPhone 3GS and large numbers of iPhone 3G aren’t supported by the Fuzzyband, so in case your baseband is updated then wait for Dev team/GeoHot to release any workaround. This may take weeks or months.

iBlueNova : Video Demonstration of iPhone Bluetooth Hack

MeDevil is almost done with iBlueNova, the application that unlocks the Bluetooth and lets users exchange any type of files between the iPhone and other phones. MeDevil released the 4th beta release to special group of beta testers. We don’t have any timeline for the release of final build and MeDevil is also silent about the release date. Update : Folks over iSpazio confirmed that MeDevil is done with iBluenova and he is in talk with Saurik for releasing iBluenova in Cydia Store. So we can expect the release of iBluenova within this week.

Download iPhone OS 3.1.3 Firmware Update

Apple released iPhone firmware update version 3.1.3 for iPhone and iPod family. For more details about OS 3.1.3 check our previous post Apple Releases Firmware 3.1.3 for iPhone. Latest firmware update is a minor release but if you are a potential jailbreaker then stay away from this update until we have a solid confirmation or new release of jailbreaking tools. Firmware 3.1.3 is a fix for iPhone 3GS battery level reporting, app crashes on launch and for app crashes while using Japanese Kana Keyboard.
