Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS iOS 4.2.1 with Greenpois0n RC5 : Guide

As you know Chronic Dev team released the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, you can Download Greenposi0n RC5 to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1. This version of Greenpois0n is as simple as GeoHotz BlackRa1n but for the moment it is available for Mac only. Following are the instructions to jailbreak your iPhone 4 and 3GS already running on stock iOS 4.2.1
Requirements :
- Greenpois0n 1.0RC5
- iPhone 4 / 3GS already running on stock iOS 4.2.1
Warning :
- iPhone unlockers are advised to stay away and wait for pwnage tool release.
- If you are already running on tethered jailbreak then restore to fresh iOS update and follow the procedure.
Instructions :
1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac, launch Greenpois0n and click the Jailbreak button.
2. Now follow the instructions given by greenpois0n to put your iPhone in DFU mode.
- Click the Power button
- While pressing the power button, also click the Home button
- Release the power button and continue to click Home
3. If every thing goes well, in seconds the program will run the jailbreak and you’ll end up with a new application on the springboard, named Loader.
4. Launch Loader and install Cydia. That’s it

Worked perfect on my iPhone 4
After trying over and over to get passed the issue below (IPAD):
“Unable to find fs_mount
Unable to find fs_unmount
Unable to find fs_load_file
Greenpois0n initialized
Kind of solved it.
The secret is to keep holding the home button (even after entering DFU) until the mount error appears. After that, let the button go and wait… The Greenpois0n will search again, find the fs_mount and voilá!

works fine with me, i used it with a 3gs 4.2.1 tethered jailbreak it came up with the
Unable to find fs_mount
Unable to find fs_unmount
Unable to find fs_load_file
Greenpois0n initialized”
but then installed and now my 3gs is untethered. thanks alot greenpois0n
Here it work after many research ….
First I use Green…Rc5 with Ipad 4.2 already Jealbreak Thethered and It works …5 min to do it. Now Ipad is Untethered.Why ..see the last lines
Second I try on my 3Gs 4.1
First step: Upgrade to 4.2 via Itunes (Greenp.RC5 not work with 4.1)
Error 15xx stay but OK
Second step Jailbreak 4.2 with Redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc8 with original file from 4.2(apple).
Run this progr.TWO TIMEs : One Tether with Cydia -One Just tether
Third step from Iphone Tether,
SHUT DOWN with the red Slide to power Off.
Four step : Run greenpoison RC5 and if you see the sentences at the begin.. unable to mount…. don’t worry that’s ok
Five step… Ultrasnow in Cydia.
The reason is that Greenp.. RC5 need absolutly that your phone is COMPLETE SHUT OFF!!!! before to run this program.

Tried again today on 3GS (new bootrom)
Worked fine with new release rc5-2
Apple tv 2 : no luck
Worked fine on (already jailbroken *tethered with redsnow*) iPhone 4 on 4.2.1. No restore or anything. Just enter DFU and click Jailbreak!. Be patient. Worked for me.
Greenpois0n completes, but phones just reboots and there’s no loader icon!
This happened over and over with me. First with RC1, GP would say ‘complete’, but nothing would have worked. With RC2, instead of saying ‘complete’, it said ‘Failed’. I managed to get it to finally work by doing this;
1. Connect iphone to computer. Turn it off in usual way and close iTunes.
2. Open “terminal”, type SUDO, open Greenpois0n as “Show package contents”, go MacOS folder & drag greenpois0n to terminal & hit enter. This will show some logs and will open the Greenpois0n program.
3. Follow the GP instructions as normal. I kept holding the home button at the final stage until GP finally said complete. This may be overkill, but it seemed to work. As GP is running, you’ll see lots of logs appearing in the terminal window.
4. The screen on the iPhone will go white temporarily, the go lack and lots of logs will appear.
5. It will reboot a couple of times, with the animated GP logo.
6. Success!

And the iphone get freezed
Is there any solution to this problem?

After instal cydia using loader can be instal, but cydia cant work properly, any one can help?
Loader launches, but there’s nothing in it. Grey screen, with option button to remove.
I did this and it worked and I got loader but when I open it after “Loading Sources” it’s blank and there is no Cydia! Please help!
i have problem with wifi… my iphone not working with dhcp…only with static IP setings .
when i used a DHCP iphone set bad IP adres with B netmask…and without gateway and DNS… Ipad working OK

Install Cydia manually using Redsnow if Loader failed to do it for you
iPad : ok
Atv2 : no way
iPhone 3GS : get to the pointer where loader is installed but, once launched, cydia installation is not present and loader page is empty. Tried to install cydia with redsn0w as i did for the iPad but didn’t work

I had to use the one with SUDO and install Cydia through Redsn0w..i used 0.9.7b6
Still no luck with ATV2….

i think the problem is it needs to connect to http://www.greenpoi0n.com and their servers have crashed. keep trying or wait a few days till the demand dies down.

@iAchmed: Just keep trying. It took me 17 tries and 2 restores to get past it. Or if you’re not into that…wait a while.
I get the same error. I have tried a few times. Using OSX version. When the windows version is available I will see if that works.
Redo. Keep pressing Home button till you see the Complete button. I did it the second time and it works
From a tweet from @iSurenix , if you continue holding the home button after entering DFU mode it should continue. I had the same issue and continued holding the home button until the text appeared and it seemed to be the trick. Could have been circumstantial though.
