3 UK, 3 Ireland and Unicom China Blocking Cydia

13 February 2011 by Vinay 5 Comments

We are getting random reports from around the globe, that Cydia is inaccessible over 3G network. Irish iPhone hacker and developer @stroughtonsmith posted a status on twitter that, 3 Ireland (iPhone carrier) has blocked Cydia’s servers from their network. Later he received confirmations from the subscribers of  3 (Ireland), 3 (UK) and Unicom (China) also blocked access to the Saurik server.

iPhone jail breakers facing issues when installing or updating apps from Cydia. When Cydia tries to get an app from apt.saurik.com, they receive a ” Host Unreachable ” message or classic ” Refreshing Data ” error message like the screenshots posted below.

I’ve experienced this problem in Ireland since at least august 2010, it’s dissapointing and I suspect it’s only on the networks that have the iPhone, O2, Vodafone and 3!
