Unlock iPhone 3G, 3GS Baseband 05.14.02 or 05.15.04 with Ultrasn0w

As you know Dev Team releases Ultrasn0w 1.2 Unlock for iOS 4.2.1 It turns out that, in order to unlock iOS 4.2.1 / 4.1 you need to update your baseband with iPad baseband.

Note : If you are on baseband 05.14.02 or 05.15.04 you need to update your baseband to 06.15.00 For more details you can check THIS ARTICLE and our guide to Upgrade iPhone 3G, 3GS Baseband 06.15.00 with PwnageTool Unlock Edition. First update your baseband to 06.15.00 and then follow the following steps to unlock.

Following are the instructions to unlock iPhone 3G / 3GS Baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, 06.15.00

Instructions to install ultrasn0w using cydia

Step One : Press to launch Cydia Installer from your Springboard.

Step Two : Press to select the Manage tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three : Press to select the large Sources button

Step Four : Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen.

Step Five : Press the Add button at the top left of the screen.

Step Six : Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com as the source url and press the Add Source button.

Note:ultrasn0w is spelled with a zero, not the letter “o”.

Step Seven : Once the source has been added press the large Return to Cydia button.

Step Eight : Press the Done button at the top right of the screen.

Step Nine : Press to select http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ from the list of user entered sources.

Step Ten : Press to select ultrasn0w from the list of packages.

Step Eleven : Press the Install button at the top right of the screen.

Step Twelve : Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.

Step Thirteen : After installation completes successfully press the reboot.

Step Fourteen : Now press the Home button then power off and power on the iPhone. You do this by holding down the power button for 3 seconds then moving the power slider that appears to the right. Press the power button again to turn on the phone.

Step Fifteen : You should now be able to insert the SIM of your choice!

I take that back. After restoring it works on any network. Need to boot tethered everytime my phone goes off. Just need to watch my battery life. Thanks!

I am not lucky enough to unlock my 3gs. I followed the precedure, upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2, and bassband from 5.14.2 to 6.15.0. After unlocked, my phone was stuck in recovery mode. Tried all methods I can find from internet, they all did not work, inlcuing irecovery. Could you please help me out?

Did it for an American friend with a 3Gs on 5.14.02 and works perfect. People using vista or windows7 HAVE TO:

- run Redsn0w in windows XP compatibility mode (service pack2 for me)

- run Redsn0w as an administrator

otherwise your phone WILL get stuck!

This happened to me the first time I tried (ran as admin but forgot compat. mode) resolved this by draining the batt. completely and then start the jailbreak again.

Worked like a charm, thanks to everyone I got info from and the devteam who made this possible.
