Have Something To Say ?

Nothing but headaches and too much useless info to help me. Been working on this iPhone for two weeks. I got it jailbroke but not unlocked. After reading and reading I see I own some soft of version that can’t be unlocked. So I reverted to the info on this page and now I can not even activate the phone.
I have the iPhone 3G, version 3.1.3 and last time I was able to get into the about screen, it was firmware 05.15.04.
iTunes says unsupported SIM. AM I required to have the SIM for the setup process or can I just add one latter and insert an unused/unactivated SIM?
If anyone can assist me, and provide step by step instructions, I’d appreciate it.

Ok so I successfully updated a friends iphone 3GS to 6.15.0 on 4.3 and jailbroken/unlocked.. so I figured I would do the same for my iphone running 4.0.2 5.16.0. I updated to 4.3 with itunes but for whatever reason it left my baseband at 5.16.0 and of course that doesnt work.. How the hell do I upgrade the baseband now? Itunes just keeps telling me the phone is up to date already…… Please HELP??

Hey I need help… I tried to follow these steps but redsn0w simply won’t do it. I have a 3G 4.2.1 baseband 05.15.04 on Vista Business 32. Redsn0w crashes when uploading to iphone. I already tried everything i found on the net: Run as admin, run in compatibility mode with WinXp SP2, enabled admin account in Vista and what not, but crashes just the same. Tried on a netbook running winXP SP3 but nothing happens. Redsn0w runs, says “Done! the rest of the process is from your device”. But i get a black screen. Rebooting gives just the standard Iphone 4 OS locked, jailed and not activated. Pls help… I am iphoneless and that is very, very tragic!! :P

I think what bothers me about all this is that the instructions given in this article are contradictory. Note what it says:

At the top it says: “WARNING: If you are still on firmware 4.1 then don’t update your iPhone to 4.2.1 and follow our guide…”

Then in the instructions just a few lines below it says: “1. If you have not already done so, update your device with iTunes to firmware 4.2.1 just downloaded”

So here I am thinking. Okay, so what am I doing? Leaving it on 4.1 or do I need to update it to 4.2.1?

You it’s great having these clever guys who can hack an iphone and help all of us, but you would think clear, step by step instructions would be easy in comparison.

I updated and did everything…. Worked perfect but phone only lasted 3 hours on charge. Did a reset to the network, and now stuck on loop…. Not even going into dfu mode and botting or reinstalling works…. Wont see firmware or gets stuck there and goes into loops. So what do we do now?

  13. The Joy December 6, 2010 Reply

if you are stock on recovery and the emergency call appear in every language, you need to use redsn0w, select your firmware then select “just boot tethered right now” to boot normally… and you’ll have to do so every time you reboot the phone. (redsn0w tell you all that while it work you just need to READ)

You should upgrade to 4.2.1 if and only if your baseband is not compatible with ultrasn0w. Then you’ll have to select install Ipad baseband IN SAME TIME you install cydia.

    THEN come ultrasn0w.

    hope this help

    worked for me

Hi Guys just wanted to point out that in order to get the .ipsw file mentioned in step 2 you need to download it using the Safari Browser.
Internet Explorer Downloads this file as a Zip and does not show up in red-snow.
copy link from Internet Explorer and paste into safari and download via.

I have an iPhone 3g OS 4.1 with baseband 05.14.02
Using Windows I used this method to unlock my iphone and it worked 100%.

If you have Cydia installed, reinstall it following the instructions above, then unlock and you’re good to go.

    Thanks all

I spoke too soon. I thought i updated to 6.15.0 and after using redsn0w my phone seemed to work fine for the first hour. However i then went into the Cydia app and my phone rebooted and is now stuck with the apple logo and the “data” (not sure what to describe it) wheel spinning. When i connect to my MAC it opens photo/itunes but logo remains and it cycles on/off. Phone has been stuck like this for an hour. Help!

    Hi there,

I am not really used to “tethered” and “untethered” but really stuck on baseband 5.14.02.

When I upgrade to 4.2 with a tethered jailbreak and unlock with ultrasnow, does this mean I have to jailbreak and unlock again after each time the iPhone has been shut of. Or does tethered mean that I just loose the possibilities of Cydia and the unlock remains.

    Please advise.

    Kind regards,

    Jan

    i had iphone 3gs (old iboot)on IOS4.1 with unlocked BB 06.15.00
as this is an old boot ROM i would like to upgrade is to IOS4.2 (BB already on 06.15.00) upgrading to ios4.2 via itunes generate the 1015 error and the system hang in recovery.
tried using redsnow to upgrade to ios4.2 but remain in recovery after all installation passed.
Ireb, Tiny umbrella, can make it in DFU mode but when you switch of the phone it went back into recovery.

Solution : i had my SHSH for 4.1 saved on cydia, so i downgraded to ios 4.1 (using downgrade with SHSH saved tutorial) and whalla the iphone works as normal but on IOS4.1

still interested to get it upgraded to IOS4.2 but no tutorial can be found when you are already on bb 06.15.00 and want to upgrade.

I have updated to BB 06.15.00, and went to Cydia in order to unlock. But after Cydia went to reboot after Ultrasn0w installation, iPhone is stuck on apple logo, tried to “Just boot tethered right now” but it doesn’t help.
In different forums, people have the same issue with “apple logo stuck”, are dev-team going to resolve this issue?
    Any ideas? Thanks!

So here is where I am and I am pretty sure that I am f$%#^d.

I did this perfectly with Redsn)w and 4.1, with the new baseband. The phone I did it on was an older 3GS that I had just sold on ebay and the guy wanted it updated and unlocked. So after I got done with RedSn0w, I had forgotten to delete all of my info. So I went into the settings on the phone and wiped it. At that point it got stuck in boot, and then eventually in restore. Now keep in mnind this has the new 6 baseband and 4.1.

    iTunes will not restore or update to 4.1 or 4.2.1 on Windows or Mac. Keep getting the same error;

    An unknown error occurred 1015.

I tried using TinyUmbrella and also iRecovery to get oit of restore mode and NADA.

I can go into DFU mode and tried running it again with RedSn0w and Pawnage and even built custom firmware with Pawnage to try and recover with iTunes. NADA!!

Is this a brick, are there anything out that I may have missed?

Is there a way to just wipe it and then reinstall the iOs, like reformatting a Windows laptop?

Anything would be of great help!!

    Hello,

I performed a jailbreak on my iPhone (3GS, iOS 4.2.1) on a Macbook Pro using Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 which upgraded my iPhone’s baseband to the iPad’s baseband of 06.15.00. After the jailbreak finished, some of my iPhone apps were out of sync and not functioning (for example, the Safari app did not work and the compass did not work). Also, the Cydia app was just a white screen and would not open (everytime I tried to open it, it would immediately crash). Trying to remedy the problems, I tried to do a re-jailbreak using Redsn0w again but the iPhone went into a recovery loop and is now stuck at the recovery screen with the image of a usb cable pointing upwards towards the iTune disc symbol. I have tried several things in an attempt to reolve the problem but nothing has worked. I tried: (1) a tethered on Redsn0w, (2) I tried using Recboot, iNdependence and TinyUmbrella to try and exit the recovery mode, (3) I tried to do a restore using iTunes (4) I tried to re-jailbreak the iPhone using Redsn0w (which I had used to do the intial jailbreak as mentioned earlier) (5) I tried to do another re-jailbreak using the PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition. None of these efforts have proven successful. After each attempt to exit the recovery mode, the iPhone simply returns to the screen and remains stuck there.

Is there anyone out there who can help me?

    Thank you in advance.

Okay since it seems some have questions. Here’s what I know:

1.go here to get the ipsw: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750
    2. use Redsn0w 0.9.6beta5 to “cook” the ipsw so that you can get the jailbreak done properly. Poosh the above site will get you the right ipsw and that should work for you and Alex Hitech, Omar and raztek, you should be fine with 4.1, if you don’t think you need/want the updates of 4.2.1.
    3. After the jailbreak is complete (and it will look different on your phone than any other jailbreak I’ve ever done – it actually updated files on the phone while it was connected. Usually it stayed black or blue screen until it rebooted – not with changing the Baseband). Go to Cydia and follow the instructions on updating Ultrasn0w to 1.2. When it reboots, I suggest turning it off. Putting in your sim card and then turning it on. It may “search” for a bit and then will eventually find your carrier. You can always help it out by going into settings and making sure you are not on 3g and seeing that it is “automatically” searching for the carrier. Once it caught the correct carrier, I shut it down and rebooted one additional time.

Infinity, I’m sure you can read enough about the advantages and disadvantages of going to this baseband. The bottom line with me was that I upgraded to 4.1 without saving my shsh blobs, so I really had no choice if I wanted to unlock the phone. You may be able to wait until someone comes along and gets a jailbreak with your current baseband. And then again, your wait may be very, very long.

That is what I did. Hope this helps you guys.

Updating from my question/post from yesterday.

Alright so my plan worked. I used Redsn0w 0.9.6beta5 with an iClaried 4.1 ipsw to jailbreak and clicked on the install iPad baseband. Let it do it’s thing and voila…jailbroken and on the 06.15.00. Then used Ultrasn0w 1.2 to unlock. Rebooted twice for good measure and all good. On T-Mobile and everything works.

Which I could help some of you, but I’m just not knowledgable enough on the iPhone stuff. I’m an Android guy, just have a 16 year daughter that wanted a jailbroken iPhone – so here I am.

    Good luck.

I jailbroke my iphone 3g with redsnow to baseband 06.15.00 and everything seemed to fine for a minute or two but now I am stuck at recovery mode. Itunes will not restore (obviously since it doesn;t support 6.15 on the iphone) and I have tried over and over to re-jailbreak and I end up back in recovery mode with no way to get into the phone. Any ideas?

I think this is the tryckiest these guys ever went …
I don’t have the words to describe it …
I am still on 4.0.1 and won’t upgrade untill something is really there to grab on …
this baseband i don’t think is such a good ideea, but i might be wrong …

My personal advice, don’t upgrade your baseband unless you really have to, otherwise stay as you were …

But, that is my advice Only

Everything went fine but after unlocking and instaling ultrasn0w my phone froze and would not reboot. The iTunes will not restore my phone I am guessing because of the new baseband.

DO you think, is there anything I could try or I can trough the phone in the trash??

Can anyone suggest what to do if I’m on 4.1 and on Windows (iPhone 3g). The only suggestion above is to change the baseband via Pwnage tool unlock method via Mac (and I don’t have access to a Mac).

Any thoughts if re-jailbreaking with checking the option of “installing iPad baseband” will do the trick? That’s what I’m going to try and will report back, unless anyone thinks this is not the way to go.

    Thanks for any suggestions.
