Apple TV iOS 4.1 Gets a Jailbreak

1 October 2010 by Vinay No Comment

Apple TV runs iOS just like as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, it’s possible to jailbreak it like other iDevices. iPhone Dev team member Musclenerd just confirmed that jailbreaking Apple TV with SHAtter exploit is possible, you can indeed jailbreak the Apple TV’s iOS 4.1 installation. Jailbreaking Apple TV opens the possibility of running unapproved apps and programs on the new Apple TV.

Apple_TV_Jailbreak MuscleNerd also warned potential jailbreakers via Twitter: “Those interested in *potential* AppleTV JBs, better buy early! SHAtter is a low-level bootrom exploit which will allow the use of unsigned code execution. The specialty of this exploit is that it cannot be patched with software or firmware update and requires new bootrom to get patched. So chances are higher that Apple will update hardware in upcoming lot of Apple TV.
