Jailbreak iPhone 3G iOS 4.0, 4.0.1 with Jailbreakme

Comex released his most anticipated jailbreak solution for all iDevices including iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1 All you need to go to jailbreakme.com and slide to jailbreak. Needless to say that jailbreakme uses an exploit easily solved by Apple with a firmware release very soon, so it’s better to save your SHSH so you can stay on OS 4.0.1 as long as you want. Following are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone using the Jailbreakme right on your iPhone 3G.

Things to know about jailbreakme jailbreak:

Jailbreakme is a browser based jailbreak for all iDevice family including iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1
Jailbreakme does not include a carrier unlock.
Jailbreakme requires your device to be activated or hacktivated, if you aren’t you are out of luck.
Jailbreakme requires your device on 3G service or WiFi connectivity.

1. Browse to www.jailbreakme.com through our device and wait for the complete page load.

2. Once your page loads swipe your finger across “Slide to jailbreak”, very similar to “Slide to unlock” what we perform daily by LockScreen to access the springboard of our device.

3. Now wait and watch while your device will begin to download the data necessary to execute the jailbreak procedure.

4. Once the download is complete, the words come out “Jailbreaking Sit Tight. ”

5. Wait a few seconds while installation finishes and a new popup will warn that Cydia icon is added on the springboard.

that’s it now enjoy your jailbroken iPhone

Well it worked like a charm for me.
I have iPhone 3GS new bootrom, simply upgraded iTunes, upgraded to iOS4 from iTunes, ofcoarse my carrier was not supported to i had only wifi access, which was enough to do the job.

however i had to restore my iPhone afterwards (stupid me), and it wiped out real nice, except that now i can only make emergency calls, is there a way to hacktivate 3.1.3,4.0 or 4.0.1 yet?

does it change any of the performance problems with the 3g though? wouldn’t like to jailbreak and then realize that it is even slower than under 4.0.1 without jailbreak.

Finally, my iphone 3gs is jailbroken and unlocked. I have tried Snowbreeze, Spirit and Redsnow, but none of them work. It took me less than 5 minutes to Jailbreak with Jailbreakme. Then I unlocked it with Ultrasnow in Cydia. Now, I have IOS 4.0.1 on my Iphone. Thank you for the great work guys.

I think my iPhone may be bricked now? After downloading told me to wait then it turned off and tried rebooting but it keeps getting stuck, shutting down and attempting to reboot again.. this cycle has been occuring for the past 30 minutes now

Any suggestions anybody?

connect ur iphone to itunes, put in DFU mode (google DFU mode) and then the itunes will recognise ur iphone, so that u can perform a complete restore. U can then repeat the jailbrek process which will help u to overcome the issues.

can I update my phone n jailbreak it using this now can I??

I tried a few weeks ago n it said my firmware was to new sk downgraded to 3.1.3 again
