Unlock Baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 5.13.04 With Ultrasn0w
Musclenerd and iPhone Dev team just released ultrasn0w 0.9.3 in the wild. Latest version of ultrasn0w adds support for iPhone 3G and 3GS running baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and the latest 5.13.04 from iOS 4. A big thanks to Sheriff Hashim for once again discovering an all new crash to made this release possible. Newer version of ultrasn0w is available on Cydia repo, “repo666.ultrasn0w.com” where ultrasn0w is spelled with a zero, not the letter “o”. Following are the step by step instructions to add Ultrasn0w repo and install the ultrasn0w unlock.
Instructions to install ultrasn0w using cydia
Step One : Press to launch Cydia Installer from your Springboard.
Step Two : Press to select the Manage tab at the bottom of the screen.
Step Three : Press to select the large Sources button
Step Four : Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen.
Step Five : Press the Add button at the top left of the screen.
Step Six : Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com as the source url and press the Add Source button. Note:ultrasn0w is spelled with a zero, not the letter “o”.
Step Seven : Once the source has been added press the large Return to Cydia button.
Step Eight : Press the Done button at the top right of the screen.
Step Nine : Press to select http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ from the list of user entered sources.
Step Ten : Press to select ultrasn0w from the list of packages.
Step Eleven : Press the Install button at the top right of the screen.
Step Twelve : Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.
Step Thirteen : After installation completes successfully press the reboot.
Step Fourteen : Now press the Home button then power off and power on the iPhone. You do this by holding down the power button for 3 seconds then moving the power slider that appears to the right. Press the power button again to turn on the phone.
Step Fifteen : You should now be able to insert the SIM of your choice!

WORKS PERFECTLY as expected from the dev team…it pays to be patient.
i followed the instructions (a bit confused with step 14) and my 3GS says i have tmobile signal, however the signal drops once i place a call. also, in cydia it constantly says that there is an update for ultrasn0w. i removed and reinstalled ultrasn0w and that problem is still there. is there any info to help with my signal? thanks again for the unlock to the dev team!

I got 2 iphones.
The first one did the unlock without ANY problem, works perfectly. And of course that iphone is my brothers…
The second Iphone (mine) did get a error about cache and something with http://apt.modmyi.com... so when I install the ultrasn0w unlock it just doesn’t work for any sim, only the one thats on the carrier the Iphone is locked too.
I don’t know what more to do.. Anyone that can help?

Worked on my 3G[S] running 3.1.2 and 5.12.01. Hooray, and many thanks. Now, a few technical questions before I do something stupid:
1) I’m tethered because I used the geohot unlock back in November when my phone was 3.0 and my baseband was (I think) 5.11.07. I understand there are now jailbreaks/unlocks that are untethered. Should I upgrade to them?
2) I understand that this unlock, the one I just used today, will unlock me up to OS 4.0 — when is it safe to upgrade?

First to submit a post on a forum and it might be helpful to others:
I have 32GB iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 with baseband 05.12.01 (new bootrom). I able to use my iPhone since I borrowed AT&T sim card then I made it into air plane mode so that I can just use the itunes functionality
Then since I saw this forum, I downloaded “spirit” that jailbreaks my iPhone and install Cydia. Then spirit successfully jailbroken my iPhone then I followed the above instructions and its successful. I’m using now a local sim and phone calls are clear. As of now, I’m happy and did not noticed any bugs so far..

I have an iphone 3gs 3.1.3 baseband 5.12.01 stuck at the itunes connect screen.
Most of the JB and unlocks that i have seen are with phones that are working.
Can you please guide me as to how i can go about first Jailbreaking my phone and then unlocking it..

I have the same problem as Testing3000. Could the Dev Team let us know how to unlock the iphone if you do not have it activated or have Cydia installed? Is there an offline method one can use?

I tried to FINALLY unlock my iphone 3gs with the newbaseband and it was already jailbroken with Spirit. I had Cydia and typed in the “repo” URL in cydia and then it crashed. I can’t even use cydia anymore because everytime I open cydia it just springs back as if the app never opened.
I didn’t ssh it and I doubt that will work. I tried ireboot AND I even tried to re-jailbreak like 5 times with spirit.
NO LUCK………The person that can help me overcome this obstacle will be in my prayers!!!

Yeah Fantastic. Can anyone tell us how to update to 4.2.1. WITHOUT updating the baseband. Instructions for jailbreaking require you to install a 4.2.1 IPSW with iTunes beforehand. Correct me if I’m wrong, but will this not update the baseband to whatever is now current and so all of us who have been really careful to keep our old one have wasted our time since there’s no way back from this and we’ll then have to use a custom iPad based 06.15 version. Any news on a version of Pwnage tool that will keep the old baseband?
