Dev team already released unlock for all firmwares since OS 3.0 up to iOS 4 with Ultrasn0w, for more information check our previous guide to Unlock Baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 5.13.04 With Ultrasn0w, in order to install UltraSn0w unlock on iPhone 3G, you need to first jailbreak your iPhone. So here is a step-by-step guide to jailbreak iPhone 3G using RedSn0w for Windows and Mac users.

Am i good enough for Sn0wbreeze or not ?

  • I am on iPhone 3GS 3.0/3.0.1/3.1/3.1.2/ iOS 4 GM Pwned  : You are in

  • Windows XP, Vista, 7 (32 or 64bit)
  • Sn0wbreeze V 1.6 Download Here [Fast Direct Link]

Guide to Jailbreak With Sn0wbreeze

Step 1. Download the required files and make a folder on Desktop called “iHackintosh” or whatever you want and put the Firmware iOS 4 and Sn0wbreeze tool in iHackintosh folder.  Launch Sn0wbreeze ( Windows Vista/7 user start the application in administrator mode) and connect  your iPhone via USB to your PC.

Step 2. Click on the arrow to go to the next step, we now have to choose between Easy or Expert mode.

  • Simple Mode - Which provides step by step instructions as below and automatically detects your correct firmware and adds the unlock and activation and jailbreak with Cydia automatically to your
    custom firmware.
  • Expert Mode – Where you can adjust the settings on the various different additions to the custom firmware – if you click through and do not change anything in expert mode it will make the same.

Step 3. At this point we have to choose the firmware to select, then click on“Browse” and find the firmware we downloaded earlier and click Open. After selecting the firmware application automatically detect the device on which will go to jailbreak, then go ahead.

Step 4. Going in order, click on “General” and advanced once again. At this point, if you make a Jailbreak iPhone, the application asks us if we activate our iPhone.

Step 5. Now we must choose how Unlocks for your iPhone.

  1. If you are using an Official service provider (i.e. AT&T) you do not need to Unlock Baseband, select NO.
  2. If You are using an Unofficial service provider (i.e. T-Mobile) then Select YES

When you finish choosing options suited to you, go ahead. Sn0wbreeze will not update the baseband so you baseband firmware 4.0 with the previous one.

Step 6. In next screen you have a choice to install Cydia or Rock or both, if you’d like to take my advice install Cydia only.

Step 7. It ’s time to choose the packages to be included in your firmware. We can choose between:

  • Repository pre-added;
  • Manually add a repository (currently this feature is not available);
  • Add. Deb that you have on your computer.

We’re done with all the customizations! We can now proceed to create the firmware, click on “Build IPSW”Now we have to wait a few minutes to create the firmware and complete procedure can close the application.

Step 8. Now put your phone in DFU/Recovery mode [we suggest for DFU mode].

to put your iPhone in recovery mode :

  1. Turn the device completely off and disconnect it from cable/dock.
  2. Hold down the home button.
  3. While holding down the home button connect to a computer with a cable (easiest) or dock.
  4. Keep holding down the home button until you see a connect-to-iTunes screen You are now in recovery mode.

to put your iPhone in DFU mode :

  1. Connect your iPhone to your computer.
  2. Turn iPhone off.
  3. Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
  4. Release power but keep holding home until the computers beeps (observed on a PC) as a USB device is recognized.
  5. A few seconds later iTunes should detect your iPhone.
  6. If the Restore Logo is present on the screen, you are in Recovery Mode, not DFU.

Step 9. Open up iTunes and you will see a warning message which is communicated to you that you have connected an iPhone in recovery mode, click OK and move on.

Step 10. Then click on the Shift key on your keyboard, and simultaneously with the mouse on the Restore button in iTunes. Browse the firmware you just created.

Step 11. Wait for iTunes to complete all procedures for extracting, testing and repair of your iPhone / iPod Touch. We’re done!

After a successful jailbreak follow our guide on Unlocking iPhone 3GS with UltraSn0w. After jailbreaking follow this guide to Unlock Baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 5.13.04 With Ultrasn0w.

Have Something To Say ?

Please someone help m going crazy with this. My story goes like this:

I have an iphone 3gs which used to have a tethered blackra1n jailbreak on iOS 3.1.2.
I couldn’t update my SHSH blobs to Saurik server as my Cydia was continously crashing.
I tried to reinstall Cydia but it would require a restart, and a restart wasn’t possible as it was tethered. I would again use

Blackra1n and the same Cydia situation would come back. I accidentally put 4.2.1 firmware and try to unlock it with redsn0w. but

the phone wouldnt turn on and got stuck on apple logo. i try to tether reboot but it didnt work either. Now my phone’s in recovery

mode and with installed baseband 6.15(ipad baseband). I cannot recover it back to 4.2.1 as it counters with 1015 error. I can’t do

anything as the 3194 error shackles me at every step. Please help, its my friend’s iphone and he will kill me if i don’t do

    anything soon.

    Hello,

I am running an iphone with the blackra1n jailbreak, with the 3.1.2(7d11) software, with firmware 05.11.07, (if i’m reading correctly!)

I was wondering if you know what i can do in regard to downloading IOS4.0 and then jailbreaking?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Michael.

Can we do this if we are broken on blackrain at 3.1.2 and 5.11.07bb?

  10. Ricardo June 24, 2010 Reply

First of all thank you for the hard work!
I see you don’t make a distinction for the 2 versions or 3.1.2. I have the newer version now (3.1.2 (7D11) MC131BZ) and tethered JB. Am i good to go too?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 3GS which has not been Jailbreaked till date, can I use sn0wbreeze to JB it ? I tried the JBing using PwnageTool (from iclarified) but it did not work since it has not been JBed till date. Can you clarify if I can use this to JB 3GS with old bootrom version.

  13. hal9ccc June 24, 2010 Reply

    wowowiwah! thanks..

just to be sure: the procedure seems to be OK for 3.1.2 on Blackra1n, right? And it’s gonna be untethered then, right?

  14. Nozzy June 24, 2010 Reply

well actually, if you have an iPhone 3GS on 3.1.3 with Spiritjb, but it is an old bootrom and you have the option of downgrading to 3.1.2 THEN you can use sn0wbreeze afterwards… Get your facts correct, there is no use in scarring people that potentially can upgrade.

  15. lam June 24, 2010 Reply

i tried to jailbreak my iphone 3gs 3.1.2 and it accidentally upgraded to ver 3.1.3. i tried using snowbreeze ver 1.5 but i do not know which BB i had but it seems the jailbreak failed and my phone is forever in restore mode as it usually has the 1600 error codes on restore. will this new snowbreeze ver 1.6 do it? or will i still wait longer?

  16. Szpisti June 24, 2010 Reply

  19. Jesse June 24, 2010 Reply
