Guide to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3GS 3.1.3 With Spirit
Spirit universal iPad / iPhone / iPod jailbreak discovered by comex and developed by iPhone dev team is available in the wild [for details check here]. Needless to say that Spirit uses an exploit easily solved by Apple with a firmware release very soon, so it’s better to save your SHSH so you can stay on OS 3.1.3 as long as you want. Following are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone using the Spirit Jailbreak on Windows and Mac OS. In order to jailbreak your iPhone you must be using an activated device not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Things to know about spirit iPhone jailbreak:
- Spirit is a jailbreak for iPhone 3G, 3GS (untethered) witOS 3.1.2 and 3.1.3
- Spirit does not include a carrier unlock.
- Spirit requires your device to be activated or hacktivated, if you aren’t you are out of luck.
Step One : Download the Spirit Jailbreak from here and save it to your desktop and extract it.
Step Two : Launch the spirit app by double clicking on it.
Step Three : Connect your iPhone and press the Jailbreak button.
Step Four : The Spirit app will then let you know the jailbreak is complete.
Your iPad will reboot and show you progress indicator, thats it now enjoy your jailbroken iPhone.

Hi, I just jailbroke my iphone 3gs with spirit jailbreak. Installed Install0us and added appptrackr as homepage. Download an app n tried to install, but an error message pop up saying that the file is not a valid impact file. Has anyone encountered this problem??? Any help would be nice… thanks in advance.

Didn’t work here…. The process seemed to be complete (restart, progress screen, “jb complete” message) but when I try to sync cracked IPAs it just DONT work…. Itunes says that an error occured or the app is not signed….
What can I do ??

I block my iphone 3gs in recovery mode (jb with blackra1n firmware 3.1.2)when i tried to jailbreak with spirit.I can`t restore back to 3.1.2 or custom 3.1.3 … very sad …

Sloppy editing on your part. Sometimes it says ipad sometimes it says iphone. How about a more complete explanation including putting Hachul0us and Install0us on the phone so people don’t just have a jailbroken phone but can do something with it
Just used Spirit on my Mac.
After installing Spirit on Mac and Tethering it to my iPhone, uploading the Jailbreak, it hung for an incredibly long time after rebooting (I waited for about 10 mins before doing a hard reset)
When hard resetting, It hung on the Apple logo so had to do a restore.
Am I doing something wrong? I am using an 32GB 3GS on 3.1.3 (I actually lost my 3.1.2 jailbreak this morning after doing some updates on Rock, had to do a restore, maybe this has something to do with it?)
Any comments would be appreciated.

I am on iphone 2G 3.1.3. Unlocking with Spirit shows that it worked. Cydia also got installed. However, Cydia does not start.
Now my phone looks exactly like before with Cydia installed and I cant even remove it.
Any help will be appreciated.

I downloaded the latest iTunes and this somehow helped.

My iphone is currently on 3.1.3 and it does not work for me. It will just stop process the jailbreak and will show an error message saying “dl.exe has stopped working” with error code (c0000005). anyone can help? I would really appreciate it. Cheers!

Try setting compatibility mode to Windows 95. (Google is ur friend to find out how)

it installs fine , but when my phone restarts it starts the install screen but then my phone locks it self and stops the install

Spirit does work! This site doesn’t give you any information. This is ONLY for a JAILBREAK and will not unlock your phone for use on another carrier! If you already have your phone jailbroken you need to update to 3.1.3 in iTunes, yes that’s right you need to update it before you can use Spirit. Spirit needs a “clean” phone to jailbreak. I also read somewhere on the net that if your running Windows 7 (I read that you might need to do this on other Windows operating systems like Vista and XP too)you need to right click on the Spirit tap and then click on the Properties tab then click on the Compatibility tab then where it says Compatibility Mode you need to click on the box that says Run This Program in Compatiblity mode for:, then you need to click on the Windows 98/ME box then after that hit the Apply tab at the bottom and ok after that and hopefully it works cause it worked for me perfect! Oh and if your having problems getting Spirit go straight to the site spiritjb.com – hope this helps!

My iphone is up after a updat on the new ituns updat 3.1.3 and the new baseband code but stuck in the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen ….but but i got it runing agen on 3.1.2 and jailbreak it i am not a hacker but i think just lucky to find a way to do this i can see many of you ar stuck as i were.. her is the key to do it ..go to youtube and look for a video to downgret you 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 and if you lucky to get it on 3.1.2 ,use Spirit to see if it is on 3.1.2 you can`t use Spirit to jailbreak (new baseband)you only got a error on it it just to see if you on 3.1.2 I made a ipsw and use redsn0w to get it on my iphone and it happy houer for me ..hope i help you to finde a way to get you iphone back …
@godwin just restore it on another computer, i couldnt restore it on my pc i just kept on getting errors so i gave it to a friend and he restored it without any problems
Been reading the info about spirit and SHSH file saving using auto save app. but the info I have seen states Itunes 9 or later ?
Must I upgrade to Itunes 9. as I read somewhere else that its not possible to xfer cracked apps from phone to itunes.
have I been mislead ? (I’m ready to re-break but just want to clear this).

hi! I tried running spirit but it only gave me an error message of “failed to jailbreak (error code: c000035a)” what do I do next?
Just helped a friend use Spirit to jailbreak a 3gs. Everything worked fine EXCEPT when he goes to the App Store it says loading forever. I think it eventually says “can not connect to itunes”
