Apple Sold 2 Million iPad in 60 Days

31 May 2010 by Vinay 3 Comments

Steve Jobs introduced the long-awaited and most rumored Apple tablet on 27th of January, first iPad was shipped on April 3rd. Tech pundits reviewed iPad as just another iPod touch with big screen, no full-fledged operating system, no USB blah blah and blah. “Yes, it’s all swollen iPod Touch”, – shouted then many. Despite all this, of course, a revolutionary device began to buy up first in the U.S, and then in Australia, Canada, France and Germany. Sell, to sell, and sold 2 million gadget in just two months.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said :

“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do. We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone. “

Needless to mention here that the first iPhone, was sold only a million times in first 74 days.

Quote from article: Needless to mention here that the first iPhone, was sold only a million times in first 74 days.

True, but the iphone was tethered to that crappy AT&T service. It would have sold many more if it had been released on Verizon or a respectable phone carrier.

That said.. 2 million in 2 months, or 1 million in 74 days.. it is still just a blown up ipod touch. The fact that a bunch of them have sold is more a tribute to Apple Marketing and fanboy syndrome. I fail to see anything “revolutionary” in the ipad.

Is iPad the plural of iPad? Like deer or moose?
I guess iPads sounds a bit (more) awkward. Perhaps “iPad devices”? Apple probably does not like the term “tablet”.
    But I’m doing a lot of guessing…
