Opera Browser for iPhone Officially Confirmed

mini-iphoneOpera browser for iPhone is now officially confirmed check the Opera press release here. Opera Software is all set to reveal Opera Mini for iPhone in an exclusive press and partner preview during the 2010 Mobile World Congress (MWC). Opera developed its mini-browser for iPhone, with missing support for Flash Player! It will be interesting to see the reaction of Apple because Cupertino Giant would never adopt alternative browsers, especially if using the flash and not based on WebKit.

According to unrevealed Opera lab tests Opera Mini is up to 6 times faster on the iPhone than Safari. Press release says “Opera Mini is renowned for its compression technology, which results in significantly faster Web-page loading and reduces data surcharges. With favorite desktop features in its arsenal, such as tabs, Speed Dial and the password manager, Opera Mini is designed with usability in mind.”

Opera Mini for iPhone is not publicly available and we are highly doubtful on it’s existence in App Store in near future. Mr. von Tetzchner Co-founder, Opera Software already said that Opera’s engineers have developed a version of Opera Mini that can run on an Apple iPhone, but Apple won’t let the company release it because it competes with Apple’s own Safari browser.
