iPhone Hackers Beware, Apple Is Attacking

16 February 2010 by Vinay 15 Comments

Does the name Sheriff Hashim remind you of anything? Well, if it doesn’t have a look here. Sheriff Hashim, is an iPhone hacker who managed to find a new exploit for baseband 05.12.01. He reported his find to the iPhone Dev Team, of which Muscelnerd confirmed that the exploit might work. Well, Sheriff is in for quite a surprise, as  everyone knows that Apple is trying to fight jailbreakers and unlockers, but how are they planning to do that?

Sheriff Hashim reported through his twitter page, that Apple has dismissed his Apple iTunes ID, as he was trying to log on to the AppStore, he was welcomed with this message “This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons.”

It wasn’t only Sheriff Hashim who suffered some consequences, there is also iH8sn0w who has reported that his Apple ID has also been banned.

This is one way Apple is trying to fight off jailbreakers and unlockers, which is kind of scary, as what if Apple starts to ban not hackers but users who jailbreak or unlock their device?

yea, ill believe that, it happened to Jima6636 too, no idea what to about it thou, thank god they didnt stop the IP too

Hahaha. This is really scary because there is a big tendency that they will be blocking users and not hackers. Well, blocking the IP address isn’t really a problem since you can use proxies. I just wonder why Apple is doing this!

Wonder if these 2 tried to call apple support. Wonder what kind of response they would get back.

Well, if they behave like this to regular “Jailbroken” users. The have lost my business.

I will “ban” iPhone from my next Mobile purchase!!

hahaha hey, if they are going to ban “customers” from their store, go right ahead….. 1D10T’s

Like someone else said, they could just change their account name. If Apple decides to ban every jailbroken iphone account holder, I wouldn’t give a damn cause I will only buy apps from a 3rd party. I just got my iphone about a month ago, I will not renew my contract with AT&T after this contract expires. My whole family has iphones and AT&T will lose a lot of customer cause of Apple. Even the guy that sold me the iphones at the AT&T store had his iphone jailbroken. Steve Jobs and the Apple team can go to hell. 100% for the hackers. Keep up the good work.

Apple have been playing big brother for a long time, iTunes spiked my iphone 3gs 3.1.2 (Jailbroken with BlackRa1n) and forced me to upgrade to 3.1.3, coz the phone mysteriously froze without any warning and got stuck on DFU mode… No coincidence that this happened 2 days after the update was out… Apple have been monitoring us all along. The only reason why i jailbroke my phone was to unlock it and use it on another carrier, not really interested in third party software. Now i’m stuck with an iPod touch 3GS… SMH. if apple were to offer a paid unlocking service, lets say $30, i know i will definetly opt for that option, instead of Jailbreaking the iPhone…

I heard that you can jailbreak your iphone 3gs os 3.1.3 boot 05.12.01 with redsnow 0.9.4. Is that true?? I just want to jailbreak and not unlock. My carrier is AT&T. Can I get rockyourapps with redsnow 0.9.4? I just want to get back the apps that I paid for. Please help, any information will help. Thanks in advance.

This seems rather silly of Apple. I was only thinking yesterday how almost perfect my iPhone is now that I’ve added those things missed by Steve Jobs & Co. I still buy apps and music through Apple and even though I used to be a real fone-geek (changing handsets every <6months) I no longer feel the need as the iPhone is great (once tweaked)!

once ban. sorry, will not buy apple product anymore. period.

Do you know how many customers they would lose, or i should say how many less phones they would sell if they started banning jailbreakers? It would be a huge number and then they couldn’t even compete with these other open source phone devs. bc at least now people know about jailbreaking and that it is an option. They went after these guys bc they openly bragged about it and threw it in apples face.

Plus I also think that since jailbreaking isn’t illegal (yet) that it would be illegal for Apple to ban our phones.
