Hulu On Its Way To The iPad

What is the main reason, that iPad fans are most disappointed about due to the lack of flash? Well its certainly not Youtube, as Youtube has been available for the iPhone and will be available for the iPad, and still users are complaining. Can it be Hulu? Well according to TechCrunch, Hulu is already working on an iPad version either for its site or as a separate application.

One rumor I’ve heard from an industry insider is that Hulu is working on an iPad-friendly version of its site that should be ready by the time the iPad hits the market. Hulu itself is still vague about its plans. When asked directly by Om Malik whether Hulu has any plans for the iPad, CEO Jason Kilar recently hemmed and hawed about how he is a big believer in mobile, but wouldn’t confirm or deny anything. -TechCrunch

When Youtube became available on the iPhone, it had to convert a huge part of its videos to become compatible with the iPhone. However, Hulu’s videos are already in H.264 format, so it is not required to convert all its videos.

How can they make their videos play on the iPad? Well, since their videos are all compatible, then what is left is the player which is based on flash. If they can change their video player, for example the use of HTML-5, or JavaScripts, then Hulu would be successfully ported to the iPad.

There is still no official word about such thing, therefor you can say that this is still a rumor, a very intriguing rumor.

Last time I downloaded a Hulu video it was an FLV, not encoded in H264.
