Nexus One Rooted Before Official Launch
Yes we aren’t joking, Nexus One a.k.a Google Phone is already rooted. Google has announced a press event on January 5th in Mountain View. Nexus One is rumored to be available in market after 5th January. According to Google press release “ With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we’ve seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what’s possible.” The recently leaked images and videos indicates Nexus One announcement will be the order of the day.
Now news of the day folks over Modaco managed to root their Nexus One. MoDaCo member Paul claims to have created Superboot, a boot.img file that automatically roots the Android 2.1 operating system the first time it is booted. Paul @Modaco defined Superboot “Superboot is a boot.img that when flashed, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just flash the boot image using the instructions below and you’re done!”
How to use Superboot – Windows, Linux and OSX
- Download the Superboot zip file [Click Here] and extract to a directory
- Put your device in bootloader mode – turn if off, remove battery, plug in USB cable, when battery icon appears onscreen, replace battery then tap the power button while holding the Camera key
- WINDOWS - double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’
- MAC – Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-mac.sh’
- LINUX – Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh’ followed by ‘./install-superboot-linux.sh’
