I have been looking how to sync my contacts for days now. All I oucld find was mobile me or google sync which they want you to pay for. This is awesome. Thanks so much!

Yes did use it when it came out a couple of months back.
Problem was that you cannot search your gmail anymore which was a real bummer.
If only they could have fixed that

First make sure you are entering your password correctly.
Second make sure you have IMAP enabled in google’s email settings. You can do that by visiting gmail.com – logging in – settings – Forwarding and POP/IMAP – Enable IMAP

Finally if those doesn’t work, try changing your gmail account’s password, and reconfigure your iPhone.

Does this method allow for push “notifications” for gmail? like push notifications for other apps/SMS. just wondering before i go through the steps.

Hi its a great post.
But the problem is after doing all the settings, it is saying password incorrect and asking for password again and again.

@Squirrel61 yeah it’s old, somehow we missed it on our blog so published today. Actually yesterday one of my reader asked me how to get push notifications for his Gmail.

This is old… I’m already using it for over 4 months. But I’m very glad that Google made it possible. It’s the perfect addition to my gmail account (I’m currently not using calendar or contacts).
