Fix No Wi-Fi, GPS and YouTube after Blackra1n Jailbreak

5 November 2009 by Vinay 42 Comments

GeoHot released Blackra1n RC3 and Blacksn0w RC1 for jailbreaking and unlocking iPhone 3G/3GS with baseband 5.11.07, If you haven’t jailbroken yet then follow our guides for iPhone 3G 3GS Firmware 3.1.2 and for iPhone 2G Firmware 3.1.2 The process of jailbreak unlock is very easy but many user reported back us that they have broken Wi-Fi after jailbreaking their iPhones with blackra1n. Some folks also  reported  problems with GPS or YouTube after unlocking the iPhone with BlackSn0w.

Broken Wi-Fi Fix : There is an easy fix for all of this. All you have to do is to go to Settings>General>Reset> and hit Reset Network Settings. After resetting the network settings. Then reboot your phone and you should be fine.

Push Notifications Fix : Launch the cydia and add  the following repo “ http://cydia.iphoneil.net/ ” then search for  “ pushfix “ and install this patch. By doing this your push notification bug caused by blackra1n will be patched.

Thanks to Jane for dropping the tip

wifi Some of our follower asked us they don’t have the working WiFI connection, so how can they unlock their iPhones with Blacksn0w without having WiFi connection. For them here is a workaround to Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 Blacksn0w Offline Without WiFi Cydia.

The problem is that once you switch the iphone OFF then wifi still doesn’t work.

I reset all the setting and then switch off and restart and looks working till I switch off again… is because of Switching OFF and not Reboot ?

On a 3GS I loose WiFi not immediately but after one or two days. Restore the OS, it works fine and keeps working. I also tried the reset and not restoring my backup. No change. BlackRa1n RC3 is still broken for me.

    Hi guys, If in doubt, do what I have done and reset back to factory default by doing this;

Power off phone by holding in home button and power button at top right.

Once off, connect back to you comp using USB and then turn iphone back on holding in home, pressing power, and then continue to hold in the home button until iphone goes into recovery mode. Itunes will then prompt you to do a restore. This will allow you to put it back into Apple factory restored mode. As a result of the wireless dropout issue, I have had to do this about 4 times now. Everytime I do a Reset Network Settings, my iphone restarts but fails to boot. It gets stuck in a infinite loop of booting, crashing and then rebooting. I am going to try a different jailbreaking tool or wait until blackrain has problems ironed out. No offence to blackrain developer/s because it is an awesome tool, but the little quirks that occur arent worth the pain of having to restore and then recopy everything back onto the phone again.

    Hey

I have had the 3GS since August, jailbroke it the first day with redsn0w, love it.

My Dads just got the 3GS, on 5.11.07 and 3.1.2 firmware.

And I agree with Ross. I’ve had to reboot 3 times now, each time after hitting the “reset network settings” button. This might fix the WiFi, but we lose the jailbreak, so why on earth would it help?

    What am I doing wrong?

Above tip is no good… i added iPhoneil.net and dont find “pushfix” in it. Any other alternate way, still not able to launch YOUTUBE.

    Hi all
I have been having the same wifi issues on the iphone 2g. The issue on the iphone 2g seems to be different from the iphone 3g / 3gs. The reset all network setting will not work nor will resetting the iphone.

The wifi stopped working after i used blackra1n.
I have tried resetting all settings, using different jail break solutions, and going back to older operating systems. The wifi is still broken.

I have read that the issue is caused by corruption in the baseband, through buggy jailbreak solutions. This is not the first time this issue has occurred on the 2g iphone, the original jail break from geohot, ziphone, used to cause this issue sometimes.

The FIX from what I have read is called swifi, it is made by the iphone dev team. The only thing I cannot work out is how to get it onto the iphone. People use to use iliberty+ to put it on as a payload, but now it seems far more difficult. any ideas of how to put it into a pwnage custom firmware?

I did all the jail breaking and the push fix and everything that i can to fix the bug on the iphone after unlocking with blacksn0w. But i could not fix one problem… when ever i make a call the iphone screen goes blank(black) and does not come back…nothing works not even the power or the home buttons. My only option would be connecting the iphone to the itune and wait for display to come back. Is any one having this problem. Can anyonw fix it..???

I have unlocked with blackra1n and run blacksn0w. My iPhone 3G works perfectly except I cannot run apps. I can install apps from the iTunes store, but when I launch any app it quits instantly. I have tried restoring and re-jailbreaking. It used to work whilst jailbroken with apps, but the apps have not worked since my husband helpfully updated my iPhone to 3.1.2 via iTunes which updated the baseband!

    Can anyone help me? Please!

Hi i have jailbreaked my iPhone 3GS yesterday and it was all fine and I did realized that it never connected to any WiFi so far even though I had it enabled. Prior to jailbreaking I had updated my firmware from 3.1 to 3.1.2 and updated carrier settings too. Since my WiFi is not working I reseted my network settings. Now it is struck at apple logo repeatedly while going blank in between after sometime. Please help me.

Hey guys, had this problem with no Wifi on my gf’s iPhone 3GS (3.12 firmware 5.11.07 baseband), I did the network settings reset and the problems still persisted.

Then I proceeded to do it a few more times, resetting everything and it worked. Unfortuately with my setup I have to use blackra1n to reset it each time.

But this works! Key point, reset it a few times, reset everything and it should be good. Thanks for making this fix-tip!

Hi all, for those who are having troubles with reset network settings – I had too and I found a solution. Go to settings => general => reset => reset all settings.
It worked for me after I tried anything else. The only down side is that you will have to rearrange your icons – they are all mixed…
    I hope I was helpful :-)

I have an iPhone 3G. I connected my phone to iTunes and it updated my iPhone to 3.1.3 without my consent! So I downgraded it to 3.1.2 using blackra1n. But the baseband cannot be downgraded, so I got 05.12.01.

My phone shows “No Service”. This hasn’t happened before the jailbreak (this SIM card is the one which goes for this phone and don’t need to unlock). But I am unable to phone or text. Also my GPS doesn’t work anymroe.

    Can anyone help?

HI, I have an iphone 3GS, firmwire 3.1.2 with the baseband 5.11.07. I Jailbroke and unlock it using Blackra1n, and I am aware that I have to run blackra1n each time I reboot my device. And I have done it so. But yesterday I accidently switched off the phone and, now having trouble rebooting it. I tried running blackra1n, but there is an error message saying “This application has failed to start because ASL.dll was not found Re-installing the application may fix this problem.” But the “make rain” icon does pop up. Still its not working.
    The things I have tried
    1. Since I use vista, i’ve tried running it on Compatibility mode windows xp (service pack 2)
    2. I saved the blackra1n folder to my C drive and run it from there
    3. Run as an administrator
    4. All above 3 together.
I do not want to restore it because it will upgrade me to 3.1.3 firmwire, thus I wont be able to unlock the phone.
Is there is no solution for this problem, is it possible for me to restore to 3.1.2 and do the whole process again?
Im paralyzed without my phone. please help.
