I have tried to do this for my third time with no success. I have followed the steps twice and methods mentioned by other people, such as
“Plug up your iPhone
Close iTunes
Turn your Iphone 3g OFF
Run BlackRa1n
click make it ra1n
Hold down power and home
As soon as you see the Apple logo release power BUT HOLD HOME for at least 20 seconds”
but it has not worked. Every single time it just goes to emergency screen, then soon later on it goes back to normal but without the blackra1n app.

I quit iTunes and turned my iPhone off, which worked fine, but in steps 1 to 6 it says to ignore iTunes, but to progress any further in the jailbreaking I have to click restore or something (iTunes always comes back, regardless of whether I close it or not).

I’m also not getting the Geo thingo special screen, always the apple icon. Could anybody offer any help to me as to why it isnt working? I’m using an iPhone 3GS that I got 2 days ago, with version 3.1.2(7D11) firmware and the regular base thing (5.0.7 or something, unsure).

Hey guys,
I have an iPod touch and I tried blackra1n at least 10 times and it’s not working. I pressed make it rain and made sure iTunes was closed. And then it did the “connect to iTunes” thing an then it showed geohot’s picture. But I waited at least 20 minutes and it still didn’t reboot. It’s a 3rd generation 8 gig. I use windows xp and my computers very slow. But it’s suppose to be a 30 second jailbreak right? Please email me at nchnoah@aim.com. Thankyou and nice work geohot

Can someone advise me please. i have the iphone 3G with 3.1.2. I gave done all the steps above as mentioned. However when i restart my iphone, i receive the screen to connect my phone to itunes. I get stuck in the entering revover mode and the phone is setting on the itunes logo with the usb cable. I have did this process several times and never get past this screen or step. However, when i connect, itunes will pop up says it’s not compatable and when i open blackra1n program, it enters into my main screen again and everything looks ok. Is this normal? that means if i’m outside, i can nvr shutdown my iphone?

i followed all the instuctions, and then itunes said i had to restore my iphone and now it’s in emergency mode and i have no idea what to do!!!

Just as a follow in to my note above; I am in England so my phone is running on UK software, not US – would that make a difference?

Okay i installed blackra1n ad it worked fine but i get the message;

Error Downloading Cydia
Could not download.
Error: Error
Domain=NSURLErrorDomain
Code=-1001 UserInfo=0×19e710
“timed out”

Any answers?

I’ve got a 3G 16GB with the latest update but the guides above just aren’t working. I plug my phone in then I have tried running blackra1n both with my phone turned on and with my phone turned off (and with holding the home button while turning it on etc as mentioned above) numerous times; the pop up appears to say that the phone has been broken but my screen just stays black – no special pic or anything, it just stays black. If I turn it off then on again theres nothing new.
