I actually can use Tethering with the 3.1 firmware. I simply called FIDO and asked them if they could add it on to my Data Plan. Since I got a 6GB Data Plan, they enabled the tethering for free. Just read that they are working on something called greenp0sion or something that might be able to jailbreak 3.1! Apple controls these phones and I hate that, if they offered more custom and open source there would not be this jailbreak cat and mouse game.. Starting to wish I never an iphone now!

OH MY GOD… what idiocy. I will say it ONE last time. TETHERING with the Iphone 3G and 3GS with official apple 3.1 upgrade or out of the Box 3G or 3GS IS DEAD..DEAD..DEAD. The Dev team WILL NEVER…NEVER…NEVER bring it back. A few and I mean a VERY few people either updated using ONLY Dev-team software or did not update at all. Those people can still tether. But NO ONE and I mean NO ONE else (which is pretty much all the rest of us) can tether ever again. There is NO HACK, NO WORKAROUND, or NO TRICK that will ever bring tethering back. News flash I work at apple so I know what I’m talking about. The ONLY important thing about any of these phones is tethering all the rest is bullshi*t…AND TETHERING with and up to date iphone is DEAD..PROVE ME WRONG..

And one more thing: How the hell do they expect you to restore from 3.1 to 3.0 if you just got your iphone with 3.1 and did not even get cydia on it yet? Again, this Jailbreak is for people with 3.0, and want to update without apples trap firmware. It allows you to make custom. So for everyone stuck on 3.1 This will not jailbreak you.

Apple has WON, since all the iphones are shipping with 3.1 and they know only a small number of people actually have 3.0 or 3.01 and did not jailbreak in time to capture 3.0 shsh, ecid, whatever.. Just face it, Apple made a mistake with 3.0 firmware, but they learned and fixed it and I believe the Dev.Team is not good enough to Beat Apple, so all they did was offer a chessy update for 3.0 jailbreakers.. YOU SUCK!

Jailbreak for 3.1? I knew it was too good to be true. This update is only good for those who are already jailbreak and want to update to 3.1 jailbreak. What about the people who got there iphone with 3.1 or were forced to upgrade cause there phone was bricked? It’s a step forward but useless for me, as I am stuck on 3.1. Jailbreak 3.1 my ass, it should say “Upgrade from 3.0 jailbreak to 3.1 jailbreak” since it really does not jailbreak 3.1!

I was so worried of not being able to Jailbreak my iphone 3GS again, that I’ll happily wait a month if I knew it was going to be JB again!

However, I’m just confused on wether of not the JB will be possible with a 3GS phone /w 05.11.07 baseband.
I think Cydia/Saurik got my ECID info, since I answered “yes” when Cydia asked me to “make my life easier”… but I haven’t been able to restore to 3.0, even in DFU mode and everything.

So I’m really counting on this Jailbreak! Hurray for the people who put their time and brain behind the project!

Hey there..
I bought my iphone 3 gs n its factory unlock…which means i have nt save my shsh or ecid or anything..
Does it mean i must wait for dev team to come out with a new jailbreak or i can use this jailbreak???

I have a 3GS 3.0 iphone, the other night I was trying to unlock with purplera1n but when I ran it the first time it took the phone to restore mode and if I try running it again, purplera1n won’t do anything and stays in a ‘waiting for phone’ mode. The phone is stuck on the restore setting (black background with usb cable indicating to connect to itunes); I have NOT updated to 3.1 so I assume the phone’s firmware and everything else is still that of 3.0; I just can get it out of restore mode.
The phone has not been jailbroken nor unlocked before, since it was ruined (restore mode) when trying to jailbrake; and when read that this will not work with OTB 3gs phones my stomach flipped.
Please give me your thoughts/suggestions, i do NOT want to update since it might be worse. Where I am, a locked phone is like having nothing at all. I’m desperate. Thanks!

Hi I have a 3GS running 3.0 and I manually saved my ECID/IBESS/IBEC files but did NOT happen open cydia those couple days when you could save your ecid with cydia.
The battery life on my phone is awful so I wanted to restore it to a clean not jailbroken 3.0 state, is this not possible for me?
can a jailbroken 3.0 phone still accept a 3.0 ipsw even if apple is not signing them anymore?

I know you can’t go back from 3.1 to 3.0, but can you go from a jb 3.0 to 3.0 using itunes?

OK so I have an iPhone 3GS FACTORY UNLOCKED and my modem firmware is 05.11.07 not the 04.26.08 can I jailbreak my 3GS yet or no?
