iBluetooth : MeDevil is Cooking Bluetooth for iPhone OS 3.1.2

21 October 2009 by Vinay 13 Comments

MeDevil infamous developer of iBluetooth has confirmed he is still working on the next version of iBluetooth  for firmware 3.1.X. iBluetooth is an application for bluetooth file transfer via iPhone available from the iSpazio repository. iBluetooth is the first and only iPhone app for the jailbroken iPhone to allow users to transfer files from their iPhone via Bluetooth, a feature which has been missing from the iPhone since its launch. Here are the official words from Italian developer MeDevil.

I would say to all that I’m still working on iBluetooth version 2 (no, i didn’t run away with money) . As said before, version 2 will be compatible with FW 3.x and with iPhone 2g, 3g, 3gs & ipod touch 2g. I had to stop development this summer because of personal problem. No date defined right now, will try to release it as soon as it’s usable. Thank you for your patience.

iBluetoothThe iPhone comes with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR ( Enhanced Data Rate) built-in. Natively it only supports the Bluetooth Headset Profile and Bluetooth Hands-free Profile 1.5 which is a major limitation. And we guys do jailbreak our iPhone to remove any/many restrictions of iPhone. The most commonly requested applications in the Bluetooth stack by iPhone users are A2DP wireless stereo support and the ability to transfer files to other bluetooth devices. iBluetooth will allow users to transfer any file via Bluetooth to other devices. It also has a built-in file viewer which will allow users to send any file on their iPhone. There’s really not much else to it. You can shoot files to and from Bluetooth devices, like other Bluetooth-enabled phones that aren’t iPhones.
