Fix Missing Carrier logo After Jailbreak iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 Pwnage Tool

25 October 2009 by Vinay 10 Comments

After jailbreak your iPhone 3GS firmware 3.1.2 with pwnage tool you must noticed that the carrier name or logo on the top left side of the status bar is missing. The reason why there is no carrier logo probably due to the baseband is not upgraded. PwnageTool keeps the old baseband 4.26.08 after updating. Many of you may used the Make it Mine trick but it’s ugly and it remains same when you enters to roaming. Another workaround editing the carrier.plist is also available but it takes time.

Carrier Logo Fixer is a new Tweak just landed on Cydia that allows to solve the problem of Carrier to all persons who have performed the Jailbreak your iPhone with PwnageTool and who have found themselves without the inscription of the name operator.

    Hey

Issue I have is that while it does show the logo the SIM card is registered to (ie: Optus in Australia), I am currently roaming in the UK where Optus have affiliated carriers who give you cheaper rates, so it’s actually important to know which carrier’s network I’m on at any given time (to avoid paying a truckload in fees). Unfortunately though, the reception here is often crap so I leave the network selection on Automatic – just so I can get a signal and receive calls if necessary. However, without going into Carrier settings each and everytime to check who the network has flicked me to, I have no way of telling as the logo will always say ‘Optus’, regardless…

Without turning downgrading to 3.0.1, anyone recommend any other solutions to the carrier logo prob with 3.2.1 (on iPhone 3G).

    Cheers
    S

    Hi!
It seems every iPhone upgrader with Jailbreak has this problem.
I have jailbroken and unlocked my handset using PwnageTool 3.1.4 using the custom IPSW file for OS 3.1.2 Am using a 3 (UK) SIM and the iPhone is showing Mobistar, all basic functions are working fantastic!

Have been reading several forums, all stating ONE obvious FACT.
‘Custom JailBreak’ has some sort of old/incorrect plist for carrier details, which is why so many people are having exactly the same carrier name displayed.

I have found that you can edit a file on your handset linked to your network service provider. This does require some technical knowledge and you have to be very confident to be able to do this on your own.
It is 95% possible chance that we can FIX this issue.

I am going to try this..

If you wish to learn more, google all your questions. I spent weeks on it!

Just to let you all know that this carrier fix is no longer necessary as long as you want to update to the latest baseband which we can now unlock with blacksnow. Just upadated my 3G, jailbroke it and unlocked it with blackrain and blacksnow. Carrier problem fixed and still unlocked!
