afc2add : Solve iFunBox, iPhoneBrowser, Diskaid With Blackra1n phones

Blackra1n by GoeHotz is a 2 minute jailbreak utility but it doesn’t adds the afc2 support to your jailbreaked iPhone. iPhone browser, iFunbox, Diskaid etc uses the afc2 service to access the file system and allow the transfer of files such as Winterboard themes, NES ROMs or eBooks to the iPhone. In short you can’t access root partition of your drive with desktop clients. GeoHotz also tweeted that he disabled it because of issues whilst making the JB but said look arround cydia for a fix.

And here is Cydia fix released just some hours ago, afc2add solves all your problems with iFunBox, iPhoneBrowser, Winterboard, SBSettings and all similar applications with blackra1n jailbreaked iPhones.. Just open the cydia and search for afc2add and install this patch. After installation reboot your phone and you’ll be fine again.

Okay I have an iPhone 3Gs on 3.0, to use Blackra1n do I upgrade to 3.1.2 via iTunes and then use Blackra1n to jailbreak??

John, yah, unless you’re depended on unlock function of your carrier, be sure to update both itunes on pc as well as os in phone before , run app as admin for less problems

But need iPhone reboot first then (Apple iPhone USB Cable) on!

On computer, ifunbox open then should work show files, ect…

-my iphone reboot to a screen with usb plug pointing to iTunes
-my iphone now in recovery mode -> cannot connect to itunes/pc
-rebooted several times but got back the same screen
then,
-did a restore to original clean status(got iTunes working)
-did a repeat jailbreak
-STILL SAME ISSUE!

Any advice?

I am running on a Windows 7 desktop if that helps.

Maybe I can get it on other via and tranfer it via usb to my iPhone? I only can do by usb.

For the ones who are stuck in “Recovery Mode”, I learnt the hard way too! It’s SUPPOSED to do that! You have to boot Blackra1n from your PC (Connected to your iPhone) and it restarts it again.

You have to do this everytime, so if you’re not near your PC, DON’T turn your phone off, or run out of battery because you’ll be stuck until you get to your PC!

I presume you’re on the 3GS (like me)? My dad has a 3G and he doesn’t have to boot everytime using Blackra1n, but I do.
