iPhoneVM: Free RAM Memory on Your Jailbreaked iPhone

30 September 2009 by Vinay 10 Comments

iPhone VM is a new tweak available in Cydia that allows, especially to owners of an iPhone 3G to free RAM memory by creating a swap file that contains all the necessary processes are not always the iPhone. iPhone 3G has 128 MB of RAM while the iPhone 3GS has 256 MB of RAM so it’s a must app for iPhone 3G users. iPhoneVM Keep everything in RAM rather than opens, hold the jobs less important in this swap and you’ll get better performance in terms of speed.

You can install iPhoneVM in Cydia through this repository: http://repo.beyouriphone.com After installation must perform a reboot to your iPhone before using iPhoneVM.

i already try it and feel faster than old once
normally when i free up memory by using SBSetting i will get free memory about 30-40MB after use it if found that i come up around 50-60MB

so i will monitor about battery using too.

@abhishek SBsettings doesn’t free up your RAM, iPhoneVM swaps the un necessary processes to virtual memory…

Tested on a 3GS and it seems that there is a difference BEFORE/AFTER the installation.

BEFORE : Just after rebooting the iPhone, ~135M Free
AFTER : Just after rebooting the iPhone, ~165M Free

    This pretty effective …

For those asking how to you use this, you don’t see a new app when you install this. It seems to work with sbsettings. You open sbsettings tap processes and free memory. That’s how to use it though I’m still trying to figure out if it makes a real difference to performance

It takes up so much of general storage. 400mb of swap file on a 8-gig iPod? No way. This is recommended for 16-gig, 32-gig, and 64-gig iPod/iPhone users
