YourTube : Download Videos Directly From YouTube.app

28 July 2009 by Vinay 8 Comments

MXTube is replaced by YourTube, if you remember MXTube was created by 16 year old Max Weas and Pumpkin. MXTube makes us able to search YouTube and download the videos directly to your iPhone. Supports multiple downloads, and works a treat. Now Pumpkin (Fame iPhone Dev Team) released more advanced version of MXTube as YourTube. The app is available via Cydia and costs 2$ believe me it worth. YourTube integrates itself with Youtube.app so you don’t need to launch any other app, tab the details and you will find a download button on the right top corner. YourTube makes your downloading easy as one two three.

The downloaded videos are saved in .mp4 format, so any iPhone file browser should be able to play them as well as YouTube.app itself. Also, if you SSHed your iPhone then you can transfer downloaded videos to you desktop, To transfer videos check out /var/mobile/Media/Downloads/YourTube/ to see a list of your files.

Step by Step Guide for YourTube App.

1. Launch Cydia and find YourTube, now purchase this app from Cydia Store @$2. For login You can use your Facebook account or Google account and for purchasing you can use your Amazon account or PayPal account.

Now launch Native YouTube.app and add Downloads section to bottom menu list from More button. Here we go search the video you want to download and then tap to blue arrow for details and you will find a Download button (as shown in image below) on top right hand corner of the screen.

    Fantastic app. But can anyone tell me how to delete COMPLETELY a downloaded video when I no longer want it? I’ve used iFile to delete the video file, but the thumbnail and video info remains in the downloaded list. I want to get rid of this too

    @Vinay
    I tried deleting by swiping but its still there.
    I also used I file to delete the video but the sunflower is still I’n my iPod videos list. It’s like when I downloaded videos from the same user it created a subfolder for that user. Plus my iPod app crashes and won’t allow me to use my iPod. I can still acces the videos thru Ifile but the iPod app does not work.
