OMG: I already updated my factory unlocked 3GS to 3.1 does this means that I lost any opportunity to jailbreak my phone in the future since I didn’t backed up my iBEC and iBSS. My iphone shipped from Australia with Apple official 3.1 FW. Any suggestions plz.

If i have an iphone 3gs and i did the thing on cydia where it asked at the top if i wanted saurik to save me one of those iBEC and iBSS files, then do i need to do anything else to prepare to update and jailbreak again. i am on 3.0 and i used purplera1n to jailbreak a while ago but all i want to do is jailbreak and not unlock??

@ Thurein You are still safe if you haven’t tried to update to 3.1, be safe and stay away from 3.1 until Dev team release Pwnage tool. You can’t restore to 3.0 or 3.0.1 because Apple pulled their servers for signing those firmware. So wait for Pwnage tool and then Pwn the 3.1 for your 3GS

HELP!!! I’ve a friend who have jailbroken 3GS with 3.0 FW and He made a big mistake. “Setting->General->Reset All Setting”
Now he can’t restore 3.0 or 3.0.1 with itunes! Any ideas??? HELP!!!

How do you do this now. Apple has stopped allowing updates to the iPhone or restoring 3GS for 3.0 or 3.0.1.

Currently, restoring any older versions are not working. Users are having issues, the rsotre process gives a error “device isn’t eligible for the requested build”.

So how to get around that???

Is there a purpose of doing it twice? Your tutorial says to do once in regular mode and once again in DFU mode. The files generated seem to be identical, but I could be wrong. I dunno which set of data to keep so I kept both. I labeled one folder “not in DFU mode” and the other named “while in DFU mode”… please advise as it’s a little confusing and other sites seem to say, just do it in DFU.
