How to Unlock iPhone 2G with OS 3.0 GM Gold
First of all it’s confirmed OS 3.0 doesn’t updates your iPhone Baseband. So if anything goes wrong you can downgrade your firmware any time “ How to Downgrade iPhone 3G / 2G 3.0 back to 2.2.1 “ I have tried different tricks but only this one is the most successful trick. In the following tutorial we have two options if you used Pwnage (Mac Tool) in the Past don’t worry do a simple update as described in procedure two given below. But if you have used QuickPwn (Windows tool) in past please follow the first procedure it requires restore-downgrade-update trick. The reason behind downgrading is QuickPwn 1.0 works like Pwnage Tool. It will be very hard for you to find QuickPwn RC3 so we managed all the downloads you need in the end of this post. This guide is based on my personal experience and i am using this trick to preserve my unlock while updating to beta releases too. With this trick i’ve successfully tested up to OS 3.0 Beta 4. However i’ll be not responsible for any damage (if any!).
Update Forget GM because OS 3.0 final is here check the latest here :

For 3G Users : This guide is not for you, Don’t try it will lose your unlock if you UPDATE or RESTORE to 3.0, cause the baseband is also updated permanently.
For 2G Users : You can do whatever you like (UPDATE, RESTORE,DOWNGRADE), that you wont lose your unlock. Cause the baseband stays the same, its not updated.

- Using iTunes again, set it up as a new iPhone (do not restore from backup).

iPhone 2g 2.2.1 QuickPwned to 3.0 on Windows Computer :
…
Run QuickPwn 1.0
…
But QuickPwn 1.0 it’s for MAC, not Windows..
How I can run QuickPwn 1.0 in my PC?..
Hi,
Thanks for the guide, I have one problem. You say this: “Run QuickPwn 1.0 and allow it to pwn the iPhone using firmware 2.0.2. It should finish activated.” It is under the title: “iPhone 2g 2.2.1 QuickPwned to 3.0 on Windows Computer :” But the QuickPwn 1.0 in the download is for the Mac! How can I use this on a Windows PC?
Thanks
@ taranfx It seems you have Pwned your iPhone or your iPhone is unlocked with custom firmware. This complex guide is for the peoples who used Qucikpwn 2.2.5 to unlock their iPhone.
@ppsss @ramon Thanx for pointing the error the download link is changed to Quickpwn RC3 for Windows

itunes 8.2 changed the way it puts apps on the iphone, so if the apps they were not purchase it probably won’t work and I also notice some of the free apps I downloaded from the store dont work either I think the developers have to update programs to work with the new 3.0 firmware
Diego
you didnt unlock and iphone properly, thats why you have that message.
I think you’ll have to start over again go back to itunes 8.0 restore back to 2.0.2 and do the process again
So.. im using Custom 2.2.1 (unlocked iPhone 2G – 16Gb)… My iTunes is 8.2 (installed)… Do i need do use DFU mode to restore 3.0 image OR just “restore” (shift) ?? Does exist any difference between “2G OS 3.0 7A341″ and “GM” version ??

Hey Vinay,
I have OS 2.0 on an unlocked 2G Iphone. Can I upgrade to OS 3.0 and not lose the unlock? I am using the phone on T-Mobile.
I have a 2G Iphone v2.2 I would like to safely upgrade to v3.0 but i am a bit unclear about what a unofficial carrier is. do you ,ean the carrier the Iphone was sold from? I bought mine already unlocked in the states and brought it to israel. it works fine. so if I upgrade on the apple site to v3.0 will everything be o.k?
@ David This guide was for GM release follow our new guide here Unlock/Jailbreak iPhone 2g OS 3.0 Using RedSn0w on Windows Mac
