I have a 2G Iphone v2.2 I would like to safely upgrade to v3.0 but i am a bit unclear about what a unofficial carrier is. do you ,ean the carrier the Iphone was sold from? I bought mine already unlocked in the states and brought it to israel. it works fine. so if I upgrade on the apple site to v3.0 will everything be o.k?

I have OS 2.0 on an unlocked 2G Iphone. Can I upgrade to OS 3.0 and not lose the unlock? I am using the phone on T-Mobile.

So.. im using Custom 2.2.1 (unlocked iPhone 2G – 16Gb)… My iTunes is 8.2 (installed)… Do i need do use DFU mode to restore 3.0 image OR just “restore” (shift) ?? Does exist any difference between “2G OS 3.0 7A341” and “GM” version ??

itunes 8.2 changed the way it puts apps on the iphone, so if the apps they were not purchase it probably won’t work and I also notice some of the free apps I downloaded from the store dont work either I think the developers have to update programs to work with the new 3.0 firmware

you didnt unlock and iphone properly, thats why you have that message.
I think you’ll have to start over again go back to itunes 8.0 restore back to 2.0.2 and do the process again

It works, the problem I was having was I thought I was in dfu mode and wasn’t so I kept getting some error 20 message., but after I got it into dfu mode everything that is explained in the steps above worked great.

I am wondering if these steps will keep the phone activation intact? Can you confirm the same?

after I do this 3.0gm unlock can I then go back and restore my data
or do I have to leave it as a new phone and put all contacts back in?

Thanks for the guide, I have one problem. You say this: “Run QuickPwn 1.0 and allow it to pwn the iPhone using firmware 2.0.2. It should finish activated.” It is under the title: “iPhone 2g 2.2.1 QuickPwned to 3.0 on Windows Computer :” But the QuickPwn 1.0 in the download is for the Mac! How can I use this on a Windows PC?

iPhone 2g 2.2.1 QuickPwned to 3.0 on Windows Computer :

    Run QuickPwn 1.0

But QuickPwn 1.0 it’s for MAC, not Windows..
How I can run QuickPwn 1.0 in my PC?..

I didnt understand why u made this process so complex.
I just installed iTunes 8.2, restore 3.0 GM directly on my iPhone 2G, it worked like a charm…

@ taranfx It seems you have Pwned your iPhone or your iPhone is unlocked with custom firmware. This complex guide is for the peoples who used Qucikpwn 2.2.5 to unlock their iPhone.

@ppsss @ramon Thanx for pointing the error the download link is changed to Quickpwn RC3 for Windows
