Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Notifications Removal Tool

Windows Genuine Advantage A.K.A WGA is an anti-piracy system developed by Microsoft that evaluate online validation of the licencing of Microsoft Windows family operating systems when accessing several services, such as Windows Update, and downloading Windows components from the Microsoft Download download-iconCenter. WGA contains two services one is WGA Notifications and second one is ActiveX control. WGA Notifications hooks into Winlogon and validates the Windows license upon each logon and ActiveX control  checks the validity of the Windows license when downloading certain updates from the Microsoft Download Center or Windows Update. April 25, 2006, Microsoft began distributing Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications as "critical update" KB905474 to Windows users. Users with pirated copies were exposed to alerts at startup, login, and during use of the Windows OS, stating that they do not have a genuine copy of Windows. Users with legitimate copies are not supposed to see the alerts.

RemoveWGA will enable you to easily remove the Microsoft "Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications" tool, which is calling home and connect to MS servers every time you boot. Futures updates of this notification tool will (officialy) setup the connection rate to once every two weeks.Once the WGA Notification tool has checked your OS and has confirmed you had a legit copy, there is no decent point or reason to check it again and again every boot.

  • A unique number assigned to your computer by the tools (Globally Unique Identifier or GUID)
