Disable and Remove Yahoo! Messenger 9 Ads

Other features include voice chat, file transfer, mail and stock quote alerts, sports scores, news, and much more. After installing Yahoo messenger 9 You might be getting annoyed by the ads in the bottom . So how to remove these annoying ads on the bottom of Yahoo! Messenger 9 window.The banner ad and text ad units can be disabled or turned off by using a simple registry hack similar to trick used to remove ads on Yahoo Messenger 8 and version 7. Yahoo is starting to be a lot like Microsoft with their messenger. To remove and disable ads display on Yahoo Messenger 9, follow the trick below:

 

  1. Run Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
  2. Navigate to the following registry key:HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareYahoopagerLocale
  3. In the right pane, locate a value named Enable Messenger Ad with default value as 1. Set the value to 0.
  4. Restart Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.

Restart Messenger and Enjoy Ads free Environment O_O

    Did not work for me either.
    I am using the latest messenger. Most likely yahoo found this fix and made it where it won’t work. Hopefully someone will find another way soon.

    Go to C:\Windows\System32\erivres\etc

    Open file hosts, and add this line

    127.0.0.1 insider.msg.yahoo.com

    OK, the ads will not sown.
