BSNL IPTV Tariff Plan and IPTV System Requirements.
Before getting started you should know what is IPTV, IPTV stands for Interactive Personalised Television and Video Services. The IP TV Service also includes Video on Demand Services which is similar to watching Video CDs / DVDs using a VCD / DVD player. Movies, Instructional Videos and other content shall be available to customers in the IP TV Services.IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a system where a digital television service is delivered using Internet Protocol over a network infrastructure, which may include delivery by a broadband connection. This closed network approach is in competition with the delivery of TV content over the public Internet, called Internet Television. In businesses, IPTV may be used to deliver television content over corporate LANs.In Indian IPTV market BSNL , MTNL and Reliance are the service provider at present scenario.
Essential of IPTV :
1. TV and Content Head End – Where the TV channels are received and encoded. Also other content (Video’s) are stored at Head End. BSNL has signed agreement for this with M/s IOL Broadband.
2. Delivery network – Which is BSNL’s Broadband network and BSNL’s telephone line. (Landline).
3. Smart Electronic Device (SED) – The SED is required at the customer location for converting the IP signal back to TV signal. The SED shall be connected between BSNL Broadband Modem and customer’s TV. The SED shall be provided by M/s IOL.
4. BSNL Landline telephone is required for this service.

A discount of 20% on Broadband and bfone monthly fixed charges limited to Rs. 50/- each on Broadband and bfone shall be offered to
customers having three service BSNL bfone, Broadband and IPTV together. If IPTV is taken by TRICON customer, then he will be
eligible for getting 30 movies downloading free per annum (maximum 5 movies free in a month) in addition to the discount already
given to him as per TRICON plan.
Change of modem from Type – I to Type – II, Type – III, Type – IV will be charged separately.

IPTV System Requirements:
1) BSNL Telephone Line with multi port ADSL CPE/Modem.
2) In case of the telephone line where the Broadband facility exist and BSNL have supplied CPE/Modem, BSNL will change it free of cost. In case of CPE provided by customer himself, customer has to arrange the same.
3) For smooth working of IPTV, it is necessary that telephone line must be directly terminated on the splitter without any telephone connection before that. All parallel telephones must be connected after the splitter.
4) TV Set should have latest pin configuration (3 pins Red,White,Yellow) for Audio Video or S-Video. In case it is not available, customer has to provide BNC connector/AV converter etc if required.
5) Power Point is required near the TV Set and preferably with on/off switch so that SED can be switched off when not in use.
