Wait is Over for Indian Mobile and Internet users BSNL starts the 3G mobile service from Ambala on Feb,27 2009. Service will be expended shortly in all over India. BSNL offers both Prepaid and Postpaid Voice and Data plans  option. At the moment Migration from existing BSNL number is not possible because BSNL 3G service runs on USIM [ Universal Subscriber Identification Module ] USIM is provided to access 3G services.In 3G broadband, the connectivity speed will be almost comparable to the wire line broadband. Data Transfer speed is promised good from 384 kbps. For Accessing Internet you need  You require a 3G handset and subscription for 3G services to use mobile broadband on your handset. In case, you want to connect your laptop or PDA (personal digital assistant) to 3G network, like while moving in a vehicle, you will require to connect your 3G handset to the computer through data cable, infrared or blue tooth. You may also buy a 3G data card and use the same with your computer to access high speed 3G network.The cheapest Postpaid / Prepaid plan will costs you 250 Bucks / Month and unlimited  plan will costs you 3000 Bucks / Month. You can view the demonstration of 3G at the CSC ( Customer Care Center ) and BSNL website.

Notes:

i) For migration from a particular 3G plan to other 3G plan under prepaid service, the activation voucher of the desired plan shall be used for migration.

ii) For all the Data plans, the above mentioned Voice and SMS charges would be levied.

iii) Free SMS shall be provided for local SMS only.

iv) BSNL Portal browsing will be free to customers

v) The pulse rate for data usage shall be of 1 MB under all post/prepaid plans.

vi) On-net means Own Network (Mobile/Basic/WLL/CDMA), Off-net means Other Network (Mobile/Basic/WLL/CDMA)

vii) ISD tariffs for Voice calls will be as per 2G GSM.

viii) ISD Video calls are not available at present.

ix) The above Voice plans are applicable to both 2G and 3G customers, as no specific 3G voice tariff is possible at present.

x) The rates for all other items not covered above shall be as per 2G tariff.

xi) Existing Top-up vouchers and flexi top-up shall be allowed to the 3G voice and data prepaid plan also.

xii) The grace period GP1 and GP 2 for voice and data plans shall be as per prepaid 2G GSM.
