According to Wikipedia, the Xerox 8010 Star Information System introduced the GUI in 1981. The Apple Lisa in 1983 and the Apple MacIntosh in 1984 also sported a GUI. In 1985, the Atari ST and the Commodore Amiga each had a GUI which pre-dated Windows 1.0.

Windows 7 is not an incremental update. It is a new operating system, with some elements similar to Vista. How many times will people get this wrong? I remember the good 'ol days of 3.11. And the switch to win 95? My world went upside down. I can't say that I will miss xp. Win 7 can't get here soon enough.
