lol @ this simple solution... when u d/l dsmos.kext (from http://pcwizcomputer.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=98&Itemid=45 ) it'll be in folder form... copy it to extensions.backup (assuming u followed: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t89260.html ) then follow the instructions from the aforementioned site for restoring... from there.. continue with this guide.. and it should work.. (as mine is now...just in time for comp class...lol.. the irony.)

@Andres -I had a similar prob w/ my xps not opening osx86tools... what I ended up doing was reinstalling (w/ iatkos 5) yet before applying the update, I installed the osx86tools to make sure it would open.. (which is where I'm at now...)

@luke now THAT'S where I'm stuck @... common sense tells me to disregard the steps on renaming the "Dont..." to dsmos, as the program already points to an existing file (I'm kickin myself for not installing dsmos from the iatk'5 disc)

...meh, I thought I'd be able to work around it by using the original disc to install it, but that of course would require a reset *smacks forehead ...do some digging around google maybe it can be found floating by itself somewhere...

Well, i got to install the update with no problems but then i won't allow me to start osx86tools or any other program, i restarted from there and i the OS boots but i'm left with a black screen, I have leo and4all and follow this guide http://henry.sage-vision.com/blog/?p=49 to install and update up to 10.5.4 , then did .5 following other guide so I used to be left in a black screen before but it would be normal and "awake" from that black screen by moving the mouse... Now it just sits there... back to 10.5.5 :( Anybody knows another way to 10.5.6?
Thanks

sorry, but when i start phase 2, i cannot start osx86tools, i click on the icon but the window don't brings up, rebooting anyway the pc causes me to be stack on boot in something like "loop bug", it says initialising, but is feezed.

i have tried another time, starting osx86tool before installing the update, but when i select the options and click on the button to start, nothing happens, and after sometimes gives me a timeout error.

another point i have no "Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext"

thanks in advice, i'm interested in upgrade to 10.5.6 only 'cause ethernet drivers works ONLY in 10.5.6

i have a Hp Compaq Mini 110

Ok, this is wierd, in part one, you say to replace the Do Not Steal Mac OSX.kext with the dsmos.kext if it exists so i'm kinda confused because i don't have the dsmos.kext but i have the do not steal kext. Are you telling me to not replace it with the dsmos.kext if i don't have Dsmos.kext or are you telling me to replace it with a dsmos kext if the Do not steal Mac OSX thing exist?

Hi Vinay,

I just upgraded my dell d630 from 10.5.5 to 10.5.7 and everything works as before except my USB ports. My laptop would not detect any usb device (storage or mouse) when I plug them in. I did a backup of my kext before the upgrade and restored them after the upgrade which solved the usb problem at first but after rebooting my laptop, the usb stopped working again. I've restored the kext several times but the usb is still not working. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance for your help.
